It will take a while... I waited for about 10-15 minutes.

PS -- the OS needs to be .77 or above.

the easiest way to do it is to go to the blackberry app store and download it from there. I did and it took me less than 5 minutes total

honestly, you Pearl owners should stick with the older BBM 5.0.0.8. This newest version is like 2.7MB and may have issues with older devices. That is a ton of space for your phone.

I downloaded it, waited for the hourglass. And got an error installing message, and lost bbm totally. No icon but still shows up on my application list. Any thoughts?
Guess ill give it another shot.

Not really if u consider the fact that its replacing files from the old bbm. I'm not sure how large the old bbm app is but it shouldn't be too dramatic. I had an 8130 back in the day with plenty of apps that ran great. I installed the new official bbm on my gf's 8230 tonight from BB App World and it works great.

It's a 2MB difference, which to some people may be a lot.

I used app world to download BBM5. It never finished installing, after 24 hours it just dissapeared. I still have version 4.5 but I lost 4mb of memory.
    How wonderful.

Had this same issue with Yahoo Messenger.
