I've been checking out Amazon for a spare phone as a backup for my Q10. The 9720 is a good price, I like the Curve style keypad, and a replaceable battery is a must-have. I'm concerned about comments I've read regarding problems with the phone shutting off or rebooting on its own. Has this ever been resolved? Buying online is like Blackberry Roulette - "I hope I don't get one from an early batch."

I'd say go for the Q5 as a spare since it's just $150 on shopblackberry site.

the Q5 is rather beautiful. I bought one with bitcoins at the last bitcoin event I was at (bought it from the guy that won it at the event)
Don't forget the very beautiful bold 9900

Having said that remember that your data plan kind of doesn't work on any of the Blackberry OS devices.
If you swap your sim (even if you have BIS on your line already) it's a bit of a pain sometimes to get it to turn on (and then off when you switch back)

But you can do a lot without BIS

I do like the Q5's key design. Having a separation between individual keys seems like the best way to give the keys more stability. My ideal version of the Q10 (a Q30?) would have those keys incorporated into the snazzy horizontal silver bar design.
