anyhow, if anybody has heard anything, please fill me in

It will depend upon the processing and memory requirement of OS6.0, if 8900 meets it, it will come to it.

The processor is not the same.

As it stands right now, we do not know which devices will get OS 6.0 and which ones will not. It is all speculation.

RIM might not even know themselves. Remember when they started working on 5.0, they had it running on a 8320, but that was scrapped.

Off the top of my head if I remember correctly the 8900s processor runs at 512mhz and the 9700/9000 run at 624mhz.

I don't see why not, it will run, just not as fast. The difference between the 9700/8900 in speed from what I've read and the chance to compare my 8900 to my brothers 9700 is really nothing to '**/hum' about.

Don't forget, the Pearl Flip has a slower processor then the 8900 and it's running 4.6 OS, not the fastest thing in the world but it works. I'm running the newest .610 OS on my 8900 and it's lightning fast.

I don't see 6.0 coming out for the non touch screen phones any time soon. 5.0 was only just just after New Year.

We've barely had any information on it let alone just seeing a few pictures yesterday, no one knows which devices are going to get it

They've been saying that the pearl flip and curve 8300s were suppose to get OS 5, haven't heard a peep on that yet.

I'd say that the 8900 would be able to support OS 6.0 and that's the end of the line. But "should be able" does not equal "will get." Also remember, this is the same company that intentionally left key features out of the 8900/9000 to try and get everyone to upgrade to the 9700.

The way I see it, my phone works now so I have no complaints. I don't need another new OS.

Same here. We all still got wonderful phones. But 6.0 would be nice. It wouldn't break my heart, though.

It's funny how everyone is led so easily down a path of consumerism for the sake of consumerism. Most people know almost zero about 6.0 and yet they have to have it now. For no apparent reason. I never understood that mentality.

My guess is AT&T will never officially release 6.0 for 8900. Just like they still have not release 5.0 for bold 9000 and 8900. I wish RIM would do what Palm and Apple has done and just put the updates out there and allow all the devices to upgrade regardless of carrier.

I really dont think RIM will be releasing 6.0 for the 8900 anyways. I may be wrong but that is my hunch
