as seen in the following thread, an SMS bug is being reported where SMS's are sent/received from wrong people. i havent noticed this yet, but who else may also have this problem???

well, people with SMS trouble (or the one guy so far) why dont you explain to us again what the problem exactly is so we can troubleshoot it. unless, you are the OP from the other thread lol.

I'm curious to know if the fix that's working for some of the Bold users will also work for the 8900 users experiencing this problem. Check out my post in the thread dictoresno linked too, then find someone with a copy of net_rim_bb_sms_compose.cod from an earlier 8900 build. We've been using .314 to some success for the 9000 users.

I tried this way, the fix for the Bold and after I loaded it via BBSAK, the phone locked in blank white screen with some error text and I ended up wiping the phone and reinstalling .411 and it has worked flawlessly so far.

does the issue only occur when there more than one SMS chat going on? like lets say im talking to 4 different people via SMS. explain again what exactly occurs.

What happens is you can not have more than one conversation open..

Say i delete all SMS texts...

then i compose a new SMS to 9999999. I close the window..

Compose New SMS to 55555555. Click OK..

It opens the chat to 99999999. If i receive a msg... it goes under 9999999....

It wont let me open another chat and stays under 99999999. If you try to send a msg... it will send it to 99999999

well people are saying to replace the SMS compose cod file with one from .314 or i guess .348 would work too. that seems to fix the SMS issue. but its hit or miss, some people have the problem, some dont.

^^ i dont suffer from this on .405 for the bold9700... ithappens on .415 and .421....

Ok, i am having this problem too.This is some strange stuff.I been texting one person only today, then that was done with. Later on i get a text from someone i havent texted since i upgraded the phone(3 days ago or even more), there message is there, and as i scroll up, i see the last message i sent to the person i been texting all day today. Miles of texts further up, i see texts i was sending another person i was texting yesterday evening...didnt bother to scrol up anymore, as i think the list would of continued.

I have this Bug on 9700 and 8900 with OS5.0 greater than .400. My carrier is T-Mobile Germany.

I think it comes with the treaded SMS feature.

Is Encryption enabled on ur devices ?

I had the bug, then disabled encryption and now all is working fine

I found out there's nothing wrong with the OS, the data-backup file I had before updating to 5.0.0.411 was the culprit.

I had the leaked .238 before updating to .411.

What I did was: clean install of .411 (no backup created, delete all), then I restore only those important data, NOT auto restore all, but by using the advance option in desktop manager.

I restored the most importants ones for me; phonebook, messages, sms, data & preference, among others. The result--smooth sailing ever since.
