Working fine for me but I also did my own hybrid, not the straight hybrid posted here. There was still plenty that could be removed so I saved myself a lot of space.

Really?m I really don't think this is the best place for this thread, especially considering how long it has been in the 8830 forum.
On a side note, Is anyone having problems with the ringer stopping ringing after installing BBM 5.0 with the hybrid?
Now that the new OS for storm leaked today any chance the hybrid can be updated with the .323 files over the .230 files?
I was looking for this too. Mine seems to be gone, also. :(
Threaded SMS is what everyone is waiting for on the 8830.
would love to get the threaded sms, but i'll settle for a faster browser and whatever other goodies come with the release.
Sorry for my english because im speak spanish but this hydrid not funtion install it step by step and the only thing that changed was the messenger and I already had in 5.0 someone could make one that works because all are in 4.5
Installed 2 weeks ago and all was right UNTIL yesterday, had GPS running and BB maps froze. The GPS continued to work but the maps wouldn't move. Stayed that way even with GPS off. Rest of phone seemed OK. Needed battery pull to fix. Anyone else with this?
I experienced this also. I convinced myself that I went through a weak coverage zone (no data, or something), and BB Maps got hung up. Honestly, I've seen the same thing happen with Google Maps. I'm not sure it's anything to get in a tangle over. I certainly didn't.
So, I wanted to reinstall Opera Mini. It's been a little quirky ever since I upgraded to the hybrid, and I figured a reinstall would fix.
When I ran the Application Loader, something vexed me. BlackBerry Messenger was unchecked as though it were uninstalled, and the action to be performed was "remove." Since the hybrid has some of the core 5.0 files, I managed to OTA install BB Messenger 5.0. I already re-did Messenger once. I don't want to have to do it again.
So, I marked the checkbox. When I did, the action to be performed changed to "downgrade."
Neither of these options are acceptable to me, and I'm not sure how to proceed. I guess there is nothing I can do with the App Loader unless I can find some kind of work around. Any recommendations?
Hey guys... I just updated to the .169 hybrid and i have only one issue as of yet. Upon reboot i was missing my BB Browser. It is not hidden on my desktop however it is listed in the app list. When clicking on a URL link it attempts to open and a pop up shows and says "your device does not currently have any browser configuration service book entries. Please contact you service provider to enable the browser on your device."
Clearly i do not want to call verizon and inform them i updated my phone with a hybrid 5.0 OS and now its messed up. The last thing they'll would do is help im sure.
Any ideas? I use my phone for work and use the browser many times daily!
.175 is out from Sprint and I am downloading as we speak. Can we get one of our hybrid gurus to update with the latest 4.6 and 5.0 files? It would be greatly appreciated. I really want a new phone and am eligible for an upgrade. However I really want the Storm 2. I'm going to see what kind of deal I can fanagle out of Verizon, since their published family plans come no where near what's included in Sprints or the cost. Especially since they're having the BOGO deal right now. If not that, I guess I'll be waiting for the Tour2, but this phone is really starting to bog down.
Do any of the hybrid gugus know if we can just substitute .175 files for any .160 files in the current hybrid? It'd be very easy to use jlgui to do that and not need to wipe and reinstall.
Ok, I've followed BOTH sets of directions 5 times and it WILL NOT put this hybrid on my 8830WE so I can actually verify the OS 5.0 files. Anyone know why? What's up? What I may be doing wrong?
If you're using anything newer then DM 4.6, make sure that you are completely disconnected from the internet, then delete/ensure the vendor.xml file has been deleted in the usual folder. Also do a file search for vendor.xml as DM's 4.7+ have been known to download and place vendor.xml in other locations and/or communicate on the net somewhere with something that is essentially acting like a vendor.xml file on your actual computer. For hybrids I highly suggest using DM 4.6 as the others all seem to have problems.
By the way. You don't happen to have a new/newer 8830 that is an 8830m? If so, this could be your problem as they use different OS versions.
Does anyone know if there is any chance of threaded sms making its way onto this stellar device

Can we get some love for a .175 with a hybrid from our wonderful hybrid makers? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

new hybrid on its way
I dont think it is :(
ok i'll put another one together gimme a couple min
hey was wondering if u could answer a question for me ...how do you add music as your voice mail recording?
the easiest way is to go on app world and download youmail and use that as your visual voicemail program. it lets you select a specific voicemail greeting for each of your contacts and a default one for people not contacts on your phone.. they have alot to choose from online or you can upload your own music to use very cool
free for sprint/nextel ;)
No problem, man. Much thanks. I kept getting a fatal error and would be left with a white screen on the BB, if that helps
