    I downloaded and installed 312's updated hybrid for 169 the other day. skunkd I downloaded your lastest .rar file and copy and pasted into the java folder, deleted the vendor.xml file again and did a search to make sure there were no hidden ones, but apploader is not recognizing an update for OS. In fact it only shows the apps when it starts up. Any idea why this is happening. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling .169 with no luck. I seem to remember this happening before at some point.

    Neither is recognizing it. It almost seems like because I have .169 loaded it doesn't pick up on the new files within .169. I'm using DM 5.0. I had no problem loading the first .169 hybrid with 5.0 a couple of days ago.

    I've tried everything including deleting desktop manager and using reinstalling 4.5 and also reinstalling .169. No luck. I also completed uninstalled the DM and just used apploader with no luck. It just doesn't make sense that 312's .169 hybrid loaded and this one won't. I've even uninstalled all old older OS's. I'm also getting windows logo testing errors the any BB software I try to install including when you first plug in your BB and it loads drivers on the computer so they can communicated. Has anyone else gotten this to install? I just can't help but think they're actaully something in .rar file itself that's causing this.

    Just FYI - This thread seems like a replication of effort as there's also a hybrid available here :
    http://forums.crackberry.com/f95/hyb...-folks-328275/

    (originally created by JustinAdams and then continued by mrweeeedbirdman and now warriorforgod)

    which is also good for 88xx's.

    They have some files which are newer e.g.
    net_rim_bb_call_control.cod v5.0.0.191 -> 5.0.0.230
    net_rim_bb_passwordkeeper_resource__en.cod v5.0.0.191 -> 5.0.0.230
    net_rim_bb_password_resource.cod v5.0.0.191 -> 5.0.0.230
    net_rim_cldc_impl_softtoken.cod v5.0.0.230

    and one older
    net_rim_tid_spellcheck v4.5.0.161 -> 4.6.1.305 (as they thought v4.6 broke spellcheck)

    A suggestion would be to perhaps work together. This post should not be taken as criticism in anyway

    Yes I do realise that! You obviously aren't aware how a hybrid is built.

    Thanks...
    I did look closely at both hybrids before I posted.

    Obviously, neither of you looked closely at the link. Or the history of that build (from JustinAdams or Birdman) which was intended for 83xx and 88xx's.

    Cie la vie...

    Loaded and running @skunkd latest version. No issues using official Mac DM to upload OS. Seems I also have 2 MB of more available memory with two new apps added.

    Thanks @skunkd and @312!

    2) Download and install the .169 OS on your computer (currently the highest OS available for the 83XX series of BB, use what is highest). Move the .169 OS folder from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files to another location like your desktop.
    Why do we need the 8330 .169 java files?

    Ok, I did it all exactly as skunkd said. I was already using .169 so I modded the Java folder as needed and plugged in my phone and DM 4.6 recognized that there was an update available and installed it. I just booted with 20mb of memory (18mb before hybrid). Ill keep you guys posted on any problems I may have

    Just got my first BlackBerry today, an 8830, and installed this after waiting for it to come in the mail. I've had the files on my PC for a week or so now.

    Everything went off without a hitch, thanks a lot!

    Finally got 4.6 to recognize it though. However it's listing some of the "upgrades" as downgrades because 312 used more recent 5.0 files. .230 vs. .191. Skunkd, can you update the .191 files to .230 and reissue? Thanks for all the hard work on this.

    1 - Backup your BB
    2 - Open up Finder and go to
    Library>Application Support>BlackberryDesktop>Device Applications
    There will be two folders, go to the folder that has a combination of #'s and letters. The other folder is your device apps.
    3 - Open up the Java/Hybrid file folder in another finder window.
    4 - Copy all the COD files from the Java/Hybrid folder and paste them into the folder that is labeled with #'s and letters that you opened up in the first Finder window. Make sure you "Replace All" when you paste.
    5 - Open up Mac DM and click on "Applications" in the top right hand corner.
    6 - Another window will open up, click on "Check for Updates"
    7 - Window will then minimize. Click on "Show Other Versions"
    8 - Another window will open up which might be blank or show another OS. Click "Cancel"
    9 - You will then see the window showing current OS. Click on "Start Update".
    10 - This will start uploading the OS files that you pasted in the folder with #'s and letters as well as your Device apps.
    11 - Grab a beer as this part takes 15-25 minutes to complete update.

    Thanks for your response...so I go to...device applications, there is one folder called local...inside of that is the OS I downloaded. Since I already downloaded the most recent via windows today, I will have to wait to try your process. OK if I post this in the mac section?

    I am starting to get confused about what the latest and greatest is??? I installed the last one by skunkd post #249...I removed VAD, so don't know how to tell exactly what I have (used function shift h) and it says I have 4.6.1.305, but the only 5.0 app is BBM all the rest are 4.5.0 (doesn't report the last digits (unless you now how to get them)?

    Honestly, the "greatest" one is the one that works best on your phone. The "latest" is by Skunkd. Not all phones will react the same way to the same hybrid. (kind of a weird, huh?)

    I'd recommend trying Skunkd's latest one, though. It has more 5.0 files than previous ones.

    If your phone is a Verizon phone, downloading an OS through Desktop Manager will NOT give you the latest released OS. Download the one from the sticky.
