Here is a the Java folder with the .169 update and Skunkd's 5.0 files. I will work on getting updated 5.0 files in there, if anyone wants to wait. (Might take a day or two)

I am also willing to test any further updates. Although I must say the current 169 hybrid is functioning fairly well. Only one media error in 5 days. And, haven't had the chirp on every call... So a big improvement for me over 138 and 160.

312 - I am trying to load the .169 hybrid onto my 8830, and I am having a hard time getting my browser icon to show up. I've registered it with the network and all but still no browser. Any suggestions?
EDIT: After registering a couple more times, after a battery pull, the browser magically appeared. I'm loving the hybrid so far. Thanks both of you guys!

Which .169 hybrid is that? Just the Java folder that was posted earlier?
Yea, its just the updated java folder with the .169 released by US Cellular. I haven't played around with the original hybrid posted by skunkd for comparison, but this one is working great for me, although it does seem to be leaking a lot more than it used to on .160 (without the 5.0 hybrid files). After a battery pull I'll start with about 10mb free and after about a day and a half I'll be down to 2mb free, I used to pull the battery every week, vs every morning with this hybrid, but I don't mind at all. I also am using the bottom dock theme posted earlier and its working great
I see that Word Mole is in the 5.0 Java folder. Does the game work with the .169 hybrid? I thought it was a 4.7+ game.
That's a good question. I didn't even see word mole in that folder (then again, I didn't really look lol) and I can't find it on my phone, so no, it doesn't work.
Oh, and I am still getting the squeak/chip noise every couple minutes I'm on the phone
That must be a network issue. I have NEVER gotten a squeak/chirp on my 8830. I travel all over the world as well and have never had the problem on GSM either. The 8830 may have the single best-sounding earpiece of any phone that I've ever used.

I think its an issue with the OS. If i remember correctly, before I upgraded to this .169 hybrid, i used to have 4.5.0.138 (or whichever one verizon officially released) and never had the squeaking problem which makes me think its an issue with .169 which i believe is a known problem with .169
