- I've always found that the Shrink OS loader stalls at about 95% complete at the restore phase (at the end), so I disconnect my Tour and restore from my DM backup. Seems to work just fine.12-14-09 06:46 AMLike 0
- Yes, make sure you do the switch AFTER you shrink as well as the shrink will reinsert the .230 radio.12-14-09 09:27 AMLike 0

- After I made my initial radio switch, I went to upgrade to a new hybrid and went through the whole process to realize at the end I was running the .230 platform and not the .191. When I installed the newest hybrid it switched the radio file back to the default, .230. Correct, it does not make a difference if you swap them out before or after you shrink the OS. In fact, The first time I swapped radios I did it prior to shrinking. but I made a habit of doing it after I shrink so I can be sure it is the last switch I make before I load. This way I can be sure of the radio that I am running.
I was just trying to make it easier to understand for those that may be doing it for the first time. Sorry if this caused any confusion.12-14-09 09:55 PMLike 0 - This broke my phone after upgrading to 5.0.0.230. The phone boots, but I get Java null pointer exception errors and the UI doesn't load. I just get a screen with "BlackBerry Platform 4.2.0.61" and a list of apps.
I'm sure I probably did something wrong. Going to retry.12-15-09 12:58 PMLike 0 - Ok I got rid of the .303 and now been running .238 50v7.14 since public release and I like it a lot and everything is running fine but I can't keep a strong signal in the 2 places I spend most of my time @. I've did all the radio swaps except for .303 and .273 and now I'm thinking it could be the bb cause I've had this problem out the box running .40 then .57.... I have it set to 1xev and the sim card thing doesn't work for me either any other advice. Thanks ....

- I've installed this new hybrid and my download speeds are actually quicker than with the v7.12. Otherwise I haven't noticed anything else that's new.
One thing that was a bit weird at first was that I couldn't get any data connection even tho I had full signal bars. I had to do a battery pull a few times and it's worked fine ever since.
as for battery life... I've always had pretty good battery life with my Tour so it hasn't been an issue with me. I can usually go 2 days without charging as long as I don't leave google maps or something running by accident.12-15-09 02:49 PMLike 0 - I've installed this new hybrid and my download speeds are actually quicker than with the v7.12. - just click the box that reads install folder is the same or something like that. Its a small box towards the top. Hard to explain going off memory.12-15-09 04:44 PMLike 0
- I'm still running v11 with .191, and was happy with improved signal but did not realize until reading this thread that .191 radio did not support VAD. Damn... I use my bluetooth earpiece a lot while driving and would love to have VAD back, OTOH love the better signal strength. Will probably load the v14 and stick with .191 dialing through Vlingo, QLauncher and Speeddial buttons.12-15-09 04:47 PMLike 0
- Anyone having blue tooth issues with the new Hybrid .14, I am unable to use my Moto S9 set to make calls or talk while I am on the phone, I can use it to listen to music and that is it. I was wondering if it is a OS 5.0 issue, or a .14 issue, I did not try it with .12 when I had it on my Blackberry for a week or so. If there is a fix please let me know.12-15-09 06:17 PMLike 0
