...every now and again, I'll get an old style voicemail notification through my blackberry-the way I used to before I used youmail. It's as if every 4th or 5th voicemail doesn't actually get to youmail, and instead just works the same way the blackberry has always worked.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you know of any way to prevent this from happening?
Reading this thread it just reminded me to ask you CB members if all your carriers offer you the option to forward your voicemail messages to your mail account. I have this option which is cool because even if I delete the voicemail I still have a copy of it in my mailbox
YouMail just uses the 'no answer call forwarding' feature your carrier provides to send calls to a specific # when you don't answer them.
I looked into this problem earlier and it appears that some carriers, depending on the firmware on their switches don't always respect your call forward settings when you get 2 calls simultaneously.
So say person A calls you, Verizon will send that call to the number you've asked it to (i.e. YouMail)
Say person B calls you at the same time, Verizon ignores your call forward setting and uses the 'last setting you had prior to the current setting'.
So yeah in some cases you can set your call forwarding number twice in a row, and it'll solve this problem...
Interesting, Wakedown. Was I supposed to do something for the call forwarding (like call Verizon, or hit some button on the BB)? Cause I never did...I assumed youmail took care of that. I'm on Verizon, fyi...
