Today SHAPE Services starts beta-testing of xPlayer v.1.7.
xPlayer is a multimedia player with Live Radio and podcasts support.
New functionality: subscription to podcasts using Blackberry Push technology.
In order to subscribe go to "Podcasts" section, select podcast from the list, then select "Podcast" / "Subscribe" from the menu. Then you will see a subscription icon near it. Every time podcast is updated, you will receive push notification to your Blackberry.
Blackberry Push works only via BIS connection. We would like to test this functionality with large variety of wireless carriers.
You may download beta version from on our WAP-site:
wap.shapeservices.com/xplayer-beta
You may post your comment here or send them selecting "Help" / "Feedback" from xPlayer menu.
When posting your comments on forum, please specify your Blackberry model and wireless carrier.
Most active beta-testers will be awarded with free license codes for xPlayer.
Waiting for your comments!
UPD: Oct 23, 2009. Beta is updated to v.1.7.0.15. Integration with Blackberry profiles added.
I'm a long time fan and user of Shape Service programs (xPlayer & Mobiscope)
Downloaded xPlayer last night (thought it was an upgrade... LOL) while I was
checking to see to see if Shape Services had anything new or upgrades.
Seems to be working great, no problems so far.
I've installed and started to d/l my first podcast via Wi-fi and it is downloading at a snail's pace. Also while it is downloading the BB is lagging hugely!

As for download speed, it depends on network you use, not on xPlayer, and we cannot effect it.
As for Blackberry lagging, this is a known issue. We are investigating this situation.
I just downloaded X player. I am using a Bold running 4.6.266 on AT&T. I tried listening to quite a few live radio stations. Channels seem to load quick and I didn't notice any buffering. I was on 3G not wifi. Very cool media player. Thanks for letting me test out the beta. I'm going to play around a little more and will let you know if I come across any bugs.

Hi I'm using 1.7.1 and can't get it to bookmark position in video files and can't seem to pause and send to background like a previous test version. Is it possible to pause tracks with this version? I like to listen to audio books on the train and need to resume where I left off.
I've been trying to download a few different Podcasts, but they seem
to take for ever to download. Is there anyway to download them to
my computer and then put them on my BB and XPlayer will play them?
I'm using Mobiola XPlayer Ver 1.7
