WhatsApp Auto-downloading media

After the latest WhatsApp update all images are being auto-saved even though the option is set to not download any media. I just want to be able to "download" (but not save) the image so I can view it. I wish it was like BBM where you could just preview it and then have the option to save. In any case, it never did this before. I've tried deleting it and re-installing it to no avail. I am 100% sure that none of the boxes for auto-save are checked.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I had that happen after a particular update on Android, too. I would send them some user feedback and get them to fix it.
