I'm really asking here because I must be missing something. What are the problems with BlackBerry maps? I have Google Maps too but I use BlackBerry maps for directions because it just works.

    What am I missing?

BlackBerry Maps works fine for me as well, I've never had any issues with it and have never felt the need to use another mapping solution.

i always use Maps and it seems to work well for me. I guess it would be different if it didn't have my area or maps of where i travel...but...it does!!!!!

The search. Other than that it's fine.

Google Maps is backed by Google search. That's why it's great.

My main issue with Maps is that 9/10 it can't find where I am or its incredibly inaccurate/slow. It's at a point where I don't even bother anymore. Just use Google Maps.

I've never had a problem with it, aside from one screwy update (several updates ago). But apparently performance and coverage depends on the state or country residence.

Mine works fine. Other than the slow route mapping I have no problems with it.

What is that?! That my friend is my BlackBerry Passport.

BlackBerry maps has NO data for our region, and many other countries where our partners operate..

Therefore BlackBerry maps are useless for many of us

Hmm I have never gotten the server message and it just occurred to me that generally get the address I am looking for from Google in the browser.

I've read endless conclusory posts about how horrible the BlackBerry maps app is... so I'm glad I asked here. Maybe I am not missing anything at all.

Limited share options. I use "Send to Car" to send POI to my in-dash nav system but I have to use the Google Maps app to share it.

As noted, support varies from country to country and there's no option for public transit (same with Apple maps). I've used both (BlackBerry Maps works well for me), and it's a coin toss at times as to which service works better. Nice to have the option to use both.

Maps is terrible, and it has a lag issue. It's made me miss turns by lagging. Also, it has stutter issue as well when you first put in the address, and it randomly does that too. And it's features are lacking

How about transit and walking directions for a start?

BlackBerry Maps should really strive to be more like BeMaps Pro, which essentially Google Maps for BlackBerry.

BlackBerry Maps is great as long as you don't mind the single route it chooses and using another method to search for locations.

Well if there was no map for your area that would make maps ridiculous. Wow. I had no idea and assumed that blackberry got its mapping from some major provider.

Looks like BlackBerry gets its data for mapping and traffic from TomTom.

Yeah, I'm in Canada too and it works great, but I would hope so considering BlackBerry is a Canadian company, heh. Considering they pull from TomTom as a partner it's hard to know where the problem is in other countries where it doesn't work as well...
