I'm talking about sites like Handango, will they be forced to stop selling blackberry apps? Will the app center be the only source for third party blackberry apps?
Unlike the iPhone, the ability to install apps is quite open and the genie is not going back into the bottle. The third party sites will most likely remain open and will probably have lower prices, not by much, but lower. There will most likely be plenty of apps that will not be allowed on the app store, so again, third party stores will serve that need. I also don't see this limited to the 95xx devices, that wouldn't be cost effective.
The main target audience for the app store would be the people not on sites like this. We already know how to get our fill of apps (OK, of what's available for our 95xx series). There are users less savvy and they will be the main customers of the app.
My question... is what's available on the app store going to influenced by Verizon/Vodafone/Telus/Rogers/Bell...?
one thing im hoping is that a substantial IM app comes into play instead of beejive. yeah there's instango but it appears as if development for it has gone under.
i personally don't see the reasoning behind paying 20 bux for it when a working free version has been developed and just needs some cleaning up.
The big question as to if RIM's store will succeed will be this:
Will RIM allow porn apps?
If they don't people will go else where for their porn apps and find other apps too, it's amazing how much porn drives technology, for a large part it's responsible for the internet as we know it too!
