I am looking for a weather app that would alert me when there is a weather emergency (T-storm warnings, Tornadoes, ect) instead of having to check manually. I use the weather channel for weather now and it works great but no alerts until I check.

I think Weather Bug does this but I'm looking for a free app for now. Any ideas?

I've only used the free weatherbug app and it has worked good for me. It will give you visual and audio alerts

Could someone post the link to download the free version of Weather Bug? I've been all over their site and I can't find it.

I actually use weathereye, which is also free, and even though I'm not able to access data without a wifi connection it updates itself.. I don't know how, it just does. But all in all weathereye is great (it can even find my current town, which is TINY)

you can go to weather.com and get sent notifications via SMS for free. I find that those are very fast.

Also the National Weather Service is beta testing a new product.

Set it up by county, or user defined polygons. SMS or Email.

Definitely prefer WeatherBug Direct. Loads of weather stations near my home, icon shows current temp (awesome feature), icon blinks red for National Weather Service bulletins. Click on the icon brings up NWS alert if one issued, otherwise current conditions. It's one of my must-have apps, right up there with the browser.

Have you tried the BB app on the Storm? When I click the BB button>Toggle Menu an error pops up and I cannot get rid of it or change any options.

I did sign up for the alerts, they work very well.
