Is there a good Voip app for the blackberry torch that uses Wifi and does not use your data package or minutes? And I would like to call landlands mainly, so not an app where the calling recipient does not need the app as well.

You can try im+ skype beta. There's a skype out feature that can call outbound and its over wifi. Hope that helps.

It's not exactly a device application but if you're near a PC you can use a Magic Jack VOiP phone modem while tethering. I have successfully used it while tethering with my BlackBerry. The MJ interface actually has a toggle to switch from cable broadband to cellular wireless to scale the data rate. Either way you'll get unlimited talk time and no data usage if using ethernet or wi-fi, but you'll have to be near a PC.
