I really didn't like this app when Kevin first told us about it. It was slow not very accurate, took quite a bit of memory and had connectivity issues galore. BUT they have really brought this app a long way in a very short time. Version 2.0 is now out of private beta and the public beta can be OTA downloaded here. vlingo Mobile It's much faster and very accurate now. The program does all its heavy lifting on the back end so it's memory footprint is much smaller. It also now supports FaceBook and Twitter. Adaptation is applied to individual users (for example, the system learns over time that a particular user tends to ask for Mexican food) as well as across users (a first-time user with a Southern accent benefits from other users who have spoken into the system with a southern accent). Good Job Vlingo! Give it try.
I didn't like the previous version. This one is very nice. I really like it for searching the web. I mostly search the web using the Google Mobile App because it fills in what you're trying to type. Vlingo has won me over. It's way faster than typing. It's setup to search Yahoo! by default. I changed it so that Google search comes up. This will probably be the best app on my bb.
Vlingo 2.0 is awesome! Would be cool if you could "teach" it to open 3rd party apps. Like prerecorded matching of your own words. That probably doent make any sense but i had something like that on a old nextel that i had to voice dial contacts. Oh well, still an excellent app.
i downloade v.2 beta vlingo for my 8320 on os 4.5 and it stopped working after a couple tries.. i tried battery pull but it wouldn't have the noise after u press the convenience key, and nothing was being recognized.. it even screwed up my voice calls, as i tried to dial out but no sound would come from the earpiece or anything.. has anyone had a problem like this?
i had to uninstall and now the phone is working fine, but i wish it worked because it was awesome while it lasted (for one or two minutes)..
I'm running 1.1 currently, and like it even thought it's not as accurate as I'd like. Can't find an update link, and when I went to the website, it said it wasn't tested on 4.5, use at your own risk. 1.1 currently working on 4.5.0.81, I see some people have had trouble with 2.0. Anyone got any advise?
OK, tried to download from vlingo.mobile, and it gave me 1.1. Used BB browser to look for 2.0 and found link on blackberry cool(sorry Crackberry, I really do love you guys most). Link asked if I wanted to upgrade, woohoo! I'm rebooting right now, can't wait to abuse new version as it's quickly becoming my favorite app. As I'm sure a lot of you know, it absolutely dumbfounds the dumbphone users out there.

Reason: Solved download problem
In the terms and conditions (in the 1.1 version anyway) it looked like information is transferred to/through vlingo's site. Is this true? Why? Started to install it, but now I'm not sure.
Yes. The specifics of how it works can be found here...vlingo Technology
The reason why is, the application would be HUGE. So all the heavy lifting of the app is done on there servers. There for you do have to have a data plan.
