Is anyone else having problems with the google sync applications, specifically the contacts? My BB 8530 recently has an error pop-up window show up constantly thus making it lag significantly to the point where it is not functional. The first time it happened and wouldn't stop popping up after I pressed ok, I took out the battery and it was fine. Then it started showing up again everyday. I've noticed that in my BB I would have multiple entries for a contact (up to 100 for the same contact!) Then I noticed my gmail contacts was up to 10,000! It was reflecting the same repeat contacts as my phone. Even when I delete the entries in gmail and my phone it would keep resetting it back to the 10,000 contacts. This is creating a serious problem in organization for gmail and my BB. I don't know if these things are related but I have a good feeling that this syncing error is: 1. causing my battery to drain as it won't go for 5 hours without draining the battery 2. major lagging and pop-up disruptions on my phone to the point of not being able to function.

There are other issues I have with this phone (in addition to superficial concerns such as cosmetics and camera): the keypad feels smaller than the original curve making it easy to press the wrong buttons, the google calender synch doesn't reflect on the different google calendars I have and just shows up as one color on the BB, the facebook application doesn't seem compatible and fb event show up on my calendar despite trying to take it off multiple times, etc.

Sorry for the rant, but the two questions I would love feedback for is:
    1. Should I just try to reset the google sync? Is there an easy way how? My google contacts and phone contacts are so messed up at this point. Will this problem just occur again?
    2. Should I return the 8530 and wait for the tour 2 (I don't like the storm)? Or move to the droid phone? I figure since droid is running on a google OS, syncing problems would be minimal and I need this phone for business use and it needs to synch email, calendar, and contacts well.
    Thanks!

oops sorry to add more, but I am a first time BB owner and not sure if this is unique to the 8530, but I find it weird that when it gets to low battery, it shuts off phone reception. As you can tell my battery is dying often and the first couple times I didn't have my charger on me and had no idea I couldn't get reception or call anyone the last half hour to hour, even though the phone was on.

The contact cloning is a problem on OS 5.0. Log to your BIS account, under your gmail email add, and uncheck Contact Sync.

After that your contacts will stop breeding. And you can clean up your contact list.

About the calendar, it is he same for me. Both calendars I sync show under the same color, because they sync under the same device calendar.

Google Sync when set to automatic will do a sync every two hours or when you have changes (thus why it clones so fast as you are). I don't think this could cause much battery problems (the 2 hours sync, not the cloning).

There is a moment where the BB shuts radio off to prevent ever more battery drain. That's normal, so remember not to let it go red.

I had the same problem, it's so bloody annoying.

ahhh, the breeding contacts! this is insane. and the people at Verizon thought the answer was a new phone, so now I have to re-customize my Curve AND deal with the same crap with the 1000 entries for about 50 people.

is there a faster way to delete contacts (via desktop manager?) than individually deleting them on the phone?

ahh, after browsing some other topics, it is clearly Google sync that is doing the breeding. I checked my Gmail contacts and WOAH! holy duplicates, batman!

so, clean up Gmail contacts, manual sync to BB should fix this once and for all...

the problem ultimately lies with Google.
all of the breeding is happening in my Gmail contacts, and then when my phone Google Syncs my contacts... bam. 450 contacts is now almost 900 contacts, and I need a drink.

I just deleted Sync & reinstalled (since the syncs kept failing), after cleaning up my contacts in my Gmail, and now all is well.
