Hi,
Does Smrtguard has plans to include an option to also back up the BB Messenger contacts? This would be important for me because most of my. BB Messenger contacts are not in the address book, so If Iwere to wipe out my data I would loose all the pins.

No. It states on their site that the beta testing period is over. They're releasing the product, within the next couple of weeks. If they decide to extend the beta testing, they'll probably post an update here.

I Reallllly like the idea of your product. I have been trying it since V1.01 and put the 1.05 on when it was announced. I posted a few questions but never got a reply. I have been unable to get here or play with it in a few weeks.
I am impressed to see the support others have gotten. But I have never gotten it to work. It does the scheduled backups, but nothing else. I have tried the "Locate" and "Audio Ping" and "Track" but no results at all. The Storm shows some activity on the inbound/outbound indicators, but no results on the web site. If I watch closely I may see a brief flash of a popup on the screen as if a new msg has come in but it disappears quickly and nothing further happens.
I am very interested in the app for my Storm and my wife's. Both are 9350 running default .75 OS. I have not loaded it on hers, only mine to try it out.

Maybe some help here your GPS needs to be on for the track to work also the locate as far as the ping I am not having issues. Maybe you have a custom profile set or the such.....

Ok, so I just got a notification that tracking had started and then stopped. I had just re-installed this early this afternoon, but I haven't been on the website for hours? I quickly uninstalled as this was a little disconcerning. Anyone else see this?

Thanks, but to no avail. I have GPS enabled and works with a few other apps. No custom profile I am aware of. During install I granted all access. I love the idea behind this and despite my own problems with it have already strongly advised a few friends with BBs to go check it out. But I would sure like to have it functioning so I could show them.

you need to open SmrtGuard >> BB Key >> About SmrtGuard >> BB Key >> Reactivate.

You then need to re-enter the activation code. It is available from the PC dashboard.

The activation code is case sensitive. I had to reactivate and reboot three times before it would start locating, pinging, or lock from the web dashboard.

The activation code is case sensitive.

But instead of rejecting an incorrect activation code, SmrtGuard will accept a code entered in the wrong case and say activation was successful. Then the ping and tracking don't work.

That's what happened to me when I upgraded my OS, and I went nuts trying to find the problem.

BuckyBoy is right about the reactivation, which fixed my problem. Even if you think you did it right the first time around, try reactivation (and battery pulls). Mine works like a charm now.

Hi guys.

Just in case, I already have sent you via email the Spanish Translation.

I downloaded and installed 1.10, but must tell you, this is the second update in a row that after installing it, I no longer can backup my contacts and events. Last one (1.08) lasted 5 minutes on my BB before I went back to 1.05, I will wait on this one until you confirm me if this is a reported issue.

Got the email today for V1.10. Installed it, approved security changes rebooted and still nothing. Read one of the recent posts, reactivated it, approved more requested security changes, battery pull, nothing.

Then, tried the Audio Ping once more and suddenly it worked! Now all features seem to work! FANTASTIC!!!

OK after I got a chance to double check what could be wrong with my Backup after upgrading to the last couple of versions (1.08 and 1.10) I think that I discovered the cause. Wi-FI.

It seems that everytime I try to backup, SmrtGuard doesn't like Wi-Fi too much, I mean, with my Wi-Fi connection turned on, I can backup almost everything except Contacts and Events, it doesn't make too much sense, because it should work or doesn't work, but that's the way it is right now.

I tried about 4 times this, I turned Wi-Fi off and the Bakcup ran perfectly, then I turned th Wi-Fi again, and again, same error.

It will be good to know if the new versions are trying to access an specific port that may be closed in the router, it's the explanation as of why until version 1.05 everything was fine, but no with 1.08 and 1.10.

Any inputs on this?

after seeing your post about wifi i realized i had never tried to backup using my wifi connection on my 8900 v4.6.1.206 , so i just did it and v1.10 is alot faster than v1.08 i had no problems what so ever as a matter of fact with wifi on it was even faster at backing up from start to finish (160 contacts )every thing worked fine

Well, I'm preparing 2 Event logs showing you the events with Wifi on and off.

Also, I'm at my office, but I was having problem since last night after I upgraded, and I've never had any problems with my Wi-Fi or UMA connection at home, and like I've mentioned, Smrtguard backups were never a problem with Wi-fi at home or at my office until version 1.05.

Getting an untrusted certificate error. "You are attempting to open a secure connection, but the server's certificate is not trusted." Also getting "Authorization Failed" when trying to automatically backup. Running .10 now.

None of the stuff in SmrtGuard is still working for me. Tried e-mailing support, tried all the suggestions here to no avail. I am most likely going to drop the app. It's too bad since it was a nice app.

I was having the same error (Just see my posts above where I posted the Event logs), everything seem to indicates that it was Wi-FI, if I turned wi-fi of it worked. I'm talking in past tense because I got a new 8900 as a replacement to my other 8900, and I tried yesterday to backup with Wi-Fi turned on and I could without issues. Well, I'm happy because it worked again just like it was working before for me, but still don't understand why my previous phone was working and then it suddenly stopped working until I turned Wi-Fi off.
