When I click on the AIM icon, my sign in comes up, but when I click on "sign in" the screen memo says "service not enabled for this handheld device"....I have already been on AIM to register my mobile phone number .....any ideas?

no, T Mobile gave me the option of the data plan or unlimited texting, I took the 14.99 unlimited texting.....do you need the data plan for AIM to work??

yes, i'm pretty sure you need to subscribe to the blackberry data plan in order to use the internet, which includes aim.

I believe everything but voice and sms works or requires a data plan of some type.

Yep. You can't use any instant messengers on BlackBerry without having a data plan.
