So, I just got my SocialScope invite after having used UberTwitter for a good while now.

    Questions for SS...

Is there a way to make my friend's timeline longer? (For example, on UT you could choose how many tweets to keep in your timeline and then there was an option at the bottom to 'load more') Sometimes I can't check my twitter for a few hours and would like to be able to see what I missed.

Does anyone know what the shortcut keys are?

I'll put together my pro/con list later when I get used to SS a little more.
I'm wondering the SAME thing.....I keep going back to Uber until this is answered....or added to the app.

SS uses twitpic nicely.. my one problem with UT was the lack of twitpic support

I personally prefer TweetGenius over Ubertwitter. I just recieved my SocialScope invite last week. It's cool, but I'm loyal to TweetGenuis. It's prettier and faster than the Ubertwitter and SocialScope

I think if SS can get the font adjustment feature, they will be the top program for most

Yup, me too. I went back to UT until the next SS update to see what happens then.

Just got a confirmation that guys from Ubertwitter have got specialist GUI folks to improve the UI of Ubertwitter and make it more compatible with OS5 !!!! The next Ubertwitter release will have a colourful interface and is expected to be very eye catchy !! This will be released in a couple of months or less !!!!

I just recently switched to SS from UT, and here a few differences:

SS does not show trending topics, UT does.
SS will not show you your following/follower list, UT does.
The user intercace on SS is a little easier to manuver through. It's easier to follow/unfollow people from posts.
SS gives you a noticifation icon at the top of your screen, next to the mail and text noticifations, as well as a notification on the SS launch icon. UT just had a launch icon notification.

I think if you can get an invite to SS it's worth it to give it a try. If you don't like it you can always switch back to UT.

Seems like this guy doesn't know jack about SS.

SS does show trending topics as well as nearby tweets.
SS does show your follower/following list.
SS uses tabs since the beginning, UT only recently adopted this quick intuitive design.
SS has the ability to create your own tabs, to which you can have other social network accounts or create a Twitter List or SS group
SS updates with "near push" notifications, UT requires fetching from the server which kills battery.

I think my biggest gripe with SS is that it automatically loads after a battery pull. My poor 8830 has enough memory problems without having things load automatically. I only want SS to load when I want it to load, and to easily exit out when I'm done with it. Other than that, I love the features within SS.
That's very subjective. I'm very glad that SS automatically loads, I'd be annoyed if I had to run it everytime I needed it.

That right there would disqualify it from being installed on my device vs UberTwitter.

I kind of had the assumption based on the only real rave about SS was its UI that it would be a memory hog.

That puts it down on the sublevel with tweetgenius.

Unless you're using an old Curve or Bold 9000, why does that even matter?

Basically, anyone who hates on SS either hasn't tried it or doesn't know how to use it. And, how anyone prefers UT over Seesmic is mind boggling. Twitter clients without list support are subpar, imo.

I'm dying to find out what "near push" notifications means. If they are not PUSH then they must be FETCHED right? SS has been killing my battery for the last 6 days since I installed it. There is just no point in having SS fetch FB notifications when the BB FB app receives TRUE push notifications, and has a lot of features that are missing in SS. Don't get me wrong, the BB facebook app sucks horribly, but for now SS is not a standalone replacement just yet. And before I get flamed about the battery drain issue, I have tried it on all different settings for the update interval, including AUTO. I have used it with Ubertwitter running at the same time and without.

Today I have signed out and closed SS and have had UT running ALL DAY with 15 minute updates and still have almost a FULL battery at 6pm (my day started at 7:30 am). SS was the problem. Also, Ubertwitter is currently working on their next release which incorporates some great new features (I am a beta tester for them too and have been getting daily updates for the app). Ubertwitter also just seems a lot faster to load images and tweets than SS. They have also integrated the "friend picker" (pop-up list for @ replies) which seemed to be a big deal for everyone.

As slow as SS is with updates, I'm pretty sure UT will have them passed up real soon, if they haven't already. Either way, it is a matter of choice and the above is simply my personal opinion, take it or leave it.

Well said my friend, well said! SS goes way beyond my expectations for a twitter client. I don't see myself using anything different.

I got my invite for SocialScope yesterday, after waiting 2 months, and let me tell you; it's certainly been worth the wait. I was a longtime UberTwitter user and just recently started using TweetGenius, and I think that SocialScope blows both of those clients out of the water. Facebook intergration aside, SocialScope gives me all the features that UT did; viewing followers, trends, tweets near me, follow/unfollow/block/unblock users, but it does all this with a much nicer interface than the latest UberTwitter build.

I love being able to post to multiple twitter accounts at a time and I appreciate how SocialScope intergrates both twitter accounts into one stream of tweets. It's helpful that SS differentiates between each feed with a different colored "T", so even though all tweets are in one stream, I still know which account it's coming from.

All in all, I'm very happy with SocialScope so far. I've already deleted UberTwitter, still keeping TweetGenius (since I paid for it and all). But I haven't had any issues with it functioning and it hasn't been affecting my battery any more noticably than not putting my phone down for more than 10 seconds has.

LOL... the guy you quoted posted in July. IIRC correctly, he was correct at the time. SS did well to improve since then.

Kinda like going off on an article about cars not having fuel injection that was written in 2009 (when the article was written in 1920).

In any case, I agree, SS is pretty phenomenal. It is killing my memory though, so it is off for the time being.

as far as the battle between ss and ut.
ss loads your timeline alot faster. i downloaded the new ut and got tired of waiting for my friends tweets to refresh.

socialscope has less options, but it is faster, cleaner looking, and just seems somoother than ut.

Used UberTwitter for a while before my SocialScope invite and it is the best alternative to SocialScope. I am impressed with the new UberTwitter update and if SocialScope is ever down I immediately go to Uber. Simple answer.....Both.

I think the perfect app would be the SocialScope interface and Facebook integration (including image viewer) with the twitter features in UberTwitter. I love the look of SocialScope (haven't seen the update - apparently I'm not on the list), but still use UberTwitter more. I also don't like how SocialScope automatically loads on a reboot (with no option to stop it).

    I'll patiently wait for UberScope.
