hey alex, i just bought the pro edition and it still doesn't have all the stations that the iphone pro edition does and im curious why not? for example; it doesn't contain any of the "play by play" stations the iphone has for all the nba playoff games and the nhl playoff games. And i bought it specifically for those stations thinking if the crappy iphone has them, then for sure they will be here. and yet, bupkis. will you be adding the soon so i can at least catch the final round of the playoffs?
These streams use Adobe Flash format, which is not currently supported by BlackBerry devices. iPhone and Android support native code, which allows to decode and play practically any stream format, while on BlackBerry we can only play the streams supported by OS.

You can use the widget at the bottom of Blackberry page to see if particular station is supported.

I also am echoing the above sentiment. I really want TuneIN on the Playbook - charge me whatever you want, I will pay for it as your app will complete the Playbook! Any news at all as to when (or if) this is going to be coming out?

Now I have the Playbook myself and I have TuneIn prototype working on it however currently there are major issues with streaming media support on the device -- basically 80% of stations don't work. We are interacting with people at RIM to address this but it's pretty slow. Plan B is to run Android build of TuneIn Radio on Playbook -- once it supports Android apps.

Although I am glad that there is a Plan B; I'm disappointed to hear that there are difficulties of getting the streaming portion of the app to work on the Playbook. I presume that it is more than the annoying time-out/suspend option of 5 minutes that RIM thinks is a "feature" of the Playbook.

But I'm glad there is work being done on it and a willingess to bring the app to the Playbook. Looking forward to seeing what will happen in the future.

We filed request with RIM to get BIS access few months ago but still have no reply. Given the amount of data the app uses and the fact that all data must go via RIM servers when using BIS I think it's unlikely that we'll be let working completely on BIS though. We hoped to use it for at least for browsing and connection troubleshooting.

    Hi Alex

Great work. Can we at least push to just get Shoutcast to work over BIS please? The ONLY reason I choose TuneWiki over TuneIn is because Shoutcast streaming on their app goes over BIS.

    Hi Alex,
Can you please please help me. I am having issue connecting to tuneIn through my Blackberry. I have an unlimited internet data plan(email, BBM, browsing). Only streaming videos are charged. I use other radio apps like miRoamer and they work fine. Even other apps with internet (Shazam, EchoEcho, Maps) work fine but tuneIn states cellular data connection not working.
Currently all this works with the APN checkbox in TCP/IP setting unchecked. I called my service provider (vodafone) and they said we dont need an APN for this. I have still tried different APN settings (blackberry.net) but all other apps do work with APN not enabled in the my blackberry.
Also a friend can use your app absolutely fine on the same plan and the same handset.
    I have also tried reinstalling.
Kindly please provide a solution as to why the app fails to detect the data connection.

    Thanking you in advance.

So, out of curiosity, now that WebOS is, arguably, dead, is there any chance of an actual app being released for the Playbook which is still alive So far, I like the WebOS app - it would just be that much sweeter to use something like that on my Playbook.

Do you mean it works the same with that option on and off? That would be very strange. Normally in one case (when it matches what the system needs) it would work and in another will buffer but fail to start playing. The problem would be more clear if you send the log from the app after trying these streams.

You need to have a few Mb of RAM available to run the app, but I don't think the problem is resources shortage.

Does anyone else have issues running TuneIn on 9700 with OS 6.0?
I am having this exact problem. Stations that worked fine with BB 5.0 do not work with 6.0 and they all seem to be wma files. I tried the Storm2/Torch compatibility mode and that did not help either. Any ideas?

Alex, wondering if you knew how come K-Love and Air1 are no longer available on Tune-In? I know they both came out with apps in App World but they do not work near as consistent as Tune-In did. Plus they both take up over 1.2MB of storage space.

I have loved this application from the very beginning. I really enjoyed the beta testing, and Alex was/is always so responsive and helpful. However, I feel very disappointed at the fact that half of my stations no longer work (CBS). I contacted them and was told that CBS affiliates are no longer supported on the handhelds. I have no idea why, but it no longer has the integral use it once did.

I hope they work something out. I need my 1010Wins...

I just checked it out. I think this is what you're referring to...
BerryTunes 2.5 - MP3, Radio & Podcasts on CrackBerry App Superstore
    It looks cool!
My issue is that I really liked TIR and where it was going. Alex did such a great job with it, and I felt a personal connection while beta testing to make it better. It initially had 1010Wins, and then just abruptly overnight it is no longer available. The CBS affiliates work on the PC from RadioTime, but not within the app on handhelds. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Now I may have to dump it for 5X the cost for "the better app" I guess.

Thanks for the heads up Al. Great referral!
