Does anyone know if this is available for BlackBerries?
i wish it was. i used to use it all the time.
If you are looking for a multi-network IM client similar to Trillian for the BB, try Beejive. It is the best you can get for a BB. You can try it free for 30 days.
What sunkast said. It rocks. If you buy it pay the extra and get the version with the transferable license.
does this let you connect multiple same client IDs? say for instance i have 3 different yahoo IDs, with trillian, i can connect to all 3 so im online in all 3. can you do that with this program? thx
i wish trillian was for bb's too but sadly not. I know instango is free and lets you do multiple accts on any service cuz i have 2 AOL, 2 YIM, google, MSN and ICQ and run them all with no issues.
good lookin out on the free program!!!! ive been using that beejive and its decent, but i hate paying.... lol
i am new here and am also looking for a program that covers all the different messengers like trillian for the p.c.
i did run across palringo rich messaging.
does anyone have any comments on this one?
Sadly, Instango doesn't work with the Tour. In fact, it crashes the phone so bad, you have to reboot to get back to where you can uninstall it, and reboot immediately when it asks you to during uninstall or it stays resident. The Instango forums are completely overrun with ad spam, and it doesn't look like anybody's working on the project to update the software. *sigh*
I'll have to check out palringo.
I didn't like palringo myself. The interface seemed way too complex and non-intuitive. Also, you have to set up another account with palringo in order to use it, and then link these accounts with your instant messengers. Also, while it did hook up to all including FB chat, it would do funky things between clients. Once, I was chatting with someone on FB and on msn. It was slow because palringo kept going down, and then, when it would stay connected, it would show me as off-line anytime I switched away from one chat to talk to the person on the other. The person on my FB chat thought I had unceremoniously dumped them without saying good-bye! I finally deleted it. Maybe it's gotten better since I tried it out (about 2 months ago) but I don't know if I'm willing to try it yet.

Free Multi-IM Apps:
- Nimbuzz (has the most IM clients built in)
- Palringo (dev says new update coming soon)
- Instango
- eBuddy
Paid Apps:
- BeeJive / JiveTalk
- IM+
For the free apps, Nimbuzz probably has the most variety in IM clients. I found sending messages a little clunky since you have to use the trackball to click/send. But it does work very well. Palringo is supposed to have an update in the next couple of weeks to address some of the issues (like pressing enter to send). Hopefully, Palringo will add things like new message notifications, sounds added to profiles, and emoticons.
What do people think of Nimbuzz?
My only compaint about Nimbumm was that the text window was seperate from the message window. So, once you read someone's message, you had to open the menu, click on the edit option, type your text, open the menu, then click Send. My thumb was getting tired quickly when using Nimbuzz.
That was probably a year ago when I used it. I don't know if a newer version has come out, or if they have done any changes to the input method.
Other than that, it seemed to have just about every IM client available (at the time), including Facebook.
I like the program but I have two complaints:
1. It drains my BlackBerry battery completely in about 4 hours (I've used it in at least three devices)
2. Tech support SUCKS!, Had to get my BB Bold fixed and moved back temporarily to my old BB 8700G, I tried to transfer my license to it directly from the 8700 and I coudn't get the "transfer" page opened, so I tried from my computer, I did the transfer successfully and after that I installed and ran the application on my 8700, as soon as it loads, it gives me three options: Register with a full license, Get a trial license and cancel. If I select "register with a full license" I'm asked for a "License Key" which I can't find as I don't recall when I bought it. If I select "Get a trial license" I get a message telling me that the device already has a full license. I've been sending e-mails to support @ beejive_com all day long and I haven't got a single response.
Be VERY Careful if you want to get a license, if you lose it, it seems you'll have to BEG support @ beejive_com to get it back.... I'll post again tomorrow to tell you if I finally got my license number from the people at BeeJive.
