I just saw this ad on the Blackberry Facebook link.

"Trading up to a newer BlackBerry just got way easier! Now you dont even need to leave Facebook to upgrade to a newer model and get money back! Check out our new Trade Up tab and get moving. Dont forget to share your trade up story in the comments, how much did you get back?!" BlackBerry - Trade Up | Facebook

Not sure if anyone has seen this opportunity yet, wondering if they will still keep that available when the 9900/9300 gets here?!?

May not be a bad way for RIM to increase sales and get consumer buy in

It's not like an trade for another device....you trade in your old device and buy a new one. And wait for the next generation PlayBook.

OP, I saw this a few days ago.....I plugged in my 9000 and they offer 85 bucks for it, but the 9900/9930 isn't listed yet for the new device choice.

They want to sucker people into buying remaining Bold/Curve/Torch/whatever. It doesn't have anything to do with the 9900/9930.

Why? Because the 9900/9930 aren't listed yet? Check again once they are released.

You really think they will still have this offer going once the new phones are out? Let's stop being naive.

Why wouldn't they? RIM is behind the power curve on the 9900/9930 release, so I'm certain they will continue it. It would be asinine for them not to do it. Not being naive......I just have common sense.

Yes they will, they even buy your old phone from you. I've even received an email from them before.

It's a new product, the first new Blackberry in almost a year. Demand will probably be high. What incentive is there for RIM to give out trade-ins for outdated OS5 and 6 phones?

They offer $170.00 for my 9800, but have nothing worth buying at this time.

Gee, I dunno.....ummmmm.....maybe to sell more devices? Maybe to "sway" the people on the fence?

This is not a new process - a trade in program is a win for the manufacturer.

Most carriers, even AT&T offer trade in programs, but you could get more selling on eBay or Craig's List than what they will offer you.

I dunno...I have a Very good condition Curve 8330 from Sprint with everthing that came with it except the charger...and RIM will give me $50 USD ($5.00 for the Curve and $45.00 for the promo credit) not sure a 2008 Sprint red curve 8330 (I did upgrade the microSD card from 1gb to 4gb)

When you are talking hardware that is that old, I would take them up on it. Keep the micro sim as 4gb is not going to do much to increase it worth.

I am going to be burried with my old hardware

I would happily pay about 200 quid and trade in my torch for a sim free 9300. I think it would be a good offer if they get it going in the uk, i mean hey its better than either paying for a second line or buying the phone sim free?
