How many apps do we really need? How many could you download before it becomes ridiculous?
I don't find the need for a ridiculous amount of apps.
Social networking, some news, memory monitoring, weather. some reference, navigation apps....that's pretty much it. No downloaded games.
Oh! forgot...themes.
Yeah there is a such thing as 'too many' apps. Like Qbnkelt said an app for every part of life. Haha I find it dumb to have a bunch of apps for the same thing.

Until your memory runs out. :D I would say you can download 30+ apps with the newer BB's and they can handle it pretty well. That many is probably not needed though.
yeah, I would say it depends on how much memory you have on your particular device. Since I have a 8330m, its not to many apps. There are some more that I want to download, but I will have to wait till I get a newer BB.
I would think so..Because after maybe using it a few times, you don't use them anymore. I only have a few that use all the time.
Its all about what you see fit.
A survey in recent months says most users use only 3-5 apps on a regular basis. More than that may be useful on occasion, but 20 or more? What for? Even if the device supports all that software why bother?
That's very true. When I had my iPhone, I had 79 applications downloaded. I only used a handful on a regular basis. The rest were apps that I had used a couple If tunes to see what they were about and then forgot about them. I always operated under the belief that I would one day need that useless app for something.

I barely have any apps...I have Ubertwitter, WeatherBug, Pandora, Google Talk, Gmail app, and Facebook. I use all of them pretty regularly, except for maybe Pandora. I don't run anything like BerryBuzz or QuickPull either.
Maybe if there were some better apps for BlackBerry...I feel like if I had an iPhone I would actually have like 80 (haha).
I think anywhere from 10-20 is a good number. More then that and there just sitting on the phone not being used.

I have 10 apps downloaded from the android market currently. Out of the ten, I use three almost daily and another three sporadically. The remaining four, I never use. So much for the 30,000+ apps available.
Yup, that's why I find the whole discussion about how few BBerriesn have to be a bit over the top.
I love my 9700 because it's very useful, but it's a phone. Save for some on-the-go needs it doesn't replace my netbook, laptop or PC.
the ones downloaded from android market canbe use in BB ?
I have an Android device as well as a BB. Sorry for the confusion.
No biggy ,, I didnt quite read between the line I guess.
Cheers.
I agree with you. How many apps do we need when we are on the go? I would wager that we don't NEED many at all.
There is no such thing as "too many" OR "too few." It all depends on what you want and what your device will allow (memory wise).
Personally, since my S2 has a decent amount of memory, I can, if I wanted, download a lot more apps than I could on my S1. But why would I want to? I'm not even going to name the apps I have because that's silly, they only pertain to me and my needs, not to anyone else's. Some folks might only "need" 2 extra apps over what is offered as stock on their device, others may feel they "need" more. I have about 10 (if you count games) and that's all I really need. I walk around with about 106MB of free app memory. If something else came along that I felt I "needed" then I'd go ahead and download it. It's all about personal choices/needs and device capabilities.
Dwayne, I currently have in excess of 50 apps with no overlap. Every one of the
apps I have installed are there for a reason and are used at least twice a day.
3/4 of them are paid so it would be plain stupid to not use them.
I agree that there are many who have tons of apps that are overlapping (GPS apps,
IM apps, etc) or just not used but in my case, if I don't use it at least once a day
it is history. Every users needs are different.
Amazinglygraceless, that's remarkable that you can maximize your device like that with so many apps. But I do suspect that most smartphone users aren't like you. Most of them are probably like me when I had my iphone with dozens of apps that I never looked at. I actually read a thread about a guy who had I think 9 pages of apps on his iphone and wanted more. That was astounding to me.
amazinglygraceless-how in the world do you manage your memory?? I have DriveSafe.ly, Weatherbug,Google Sync, PdaNet, Youversion Bible, Docs to Go, Facebook and Google maps. only Google Sync is turned on all the time and I am always getting the message to delete 3rd party apps.
Outside of optimizing my memory on OS installation, I don't.
My phone maintains about 115mb of memory without my intervention. I have no
memory management apps or restart apps (complete waste IMO)
and I NEVER restart unless an app / OS installation or deletion requires it.
There is no big mystery to managing the memory on the BB. Let the system
do what it is designed to do.
Well said, AG...
He doesn't have a Storm :p
:) Yup i have a Storm good ole 9530 with OS 5.0.0.419
