what's the difference between tetherberry and the regular connection that you set up? $50 just to set up the connection then I think is too expensive, but maybe is worth it.

Why pay for something you can do for free?

I just want a very easy way to tether instead of all those steps it takes.

Set it up once (takes 5 mins if you know how to use your comp and follow directions) then turn on DM and click connect. But if you want to pay then go ahead.

There is a thread here (do search) about using your BB as modem. IMO this solves all tethering related issues. All u have to do is setup Dial-up networking connection. That's not difficult to do.

Now is it 5 minutes to set up or 5 minutes every time I want to tether?

It takes 5 min to setup. Follow the instructions on the thread. From then, it's just click and connect. If u have bluetooth on ur laptop/computer, it's only one click! After setup that is... ;-)

Hey everybody, watch out for the 5.0 download for the 8900, everything worked except for my tetherberry ,camera and any radio apps you have-you'll get nothing but error msgs but my tetherberry was working fine until I tried the 5.0 download

I use Pdanet. It's great and it's free. You just install it on your BB and computer, connect BB to computer (can do it over BT also), then click connect on the Pdanet computer software and you're online. It says that it's $29, but I've been using it for about a month now and I've never had any prompts to buy/register.

OK? It's never told me to register or pay. The speed is fine for me.

I followed the instructions on the FAQs and Tutorials thread and it worked great. I was using the BlackBerry's connection within a few minutes.

No point in paying for an app or using up some memory if you can set it up for free.

I just set mine up after reading this post. The instructions may look like a lot of steps but it doesn't take long at all. In fact, I am running vista and window 7 RC in dual boot and I was able to set up both operating systems with out a problem. I have t mobile too.
