I need easier access to a stop watch app than getting into my clock one. Plus for some reason I can't choose the stopwatch or clock through quick launch.
Any recommendations? Good free ones?

I use the timer on a daily basis, and I agree it would be nice to access it via Quick Launch. The problem may be because the feature is within the clock app. As for your original question, sorry I can't help.
