Sprint is kind enough to offer family locator with our Phone service now and my **** husband has decided to activate it so he can track me via the phone. Now he knows my location at all times and when I arrive someplace he gets a text message and can see on his GPS where I am. I called Sprint and they told me they cannot remove it because he holds the account, any way I can disable it from my phone or how do I keep him from watching me like this???

Curious to why it's such a big deal unless you're doing something you shouldn't.

Anyhow you can try disabling the GPS if it's using pure GPS and not tower based triangulation. Menu - Options - Advanced - GPS - disable it from there.

If it's using tower triangulation you're most likely SOL unless there's an app running you can remove.

I am not trying to place blame totally on him but he started the wrongs long ago. I say just get a divorce myself but until then I would rather not be tracked down like that, I don't do that to him and never have. The people at Sprint get paid by me yet won't take it off bacause he holds the account, this world is CRAZY!!!

Well he hacked into my computer email and my facebook and he seaches my car so I am not shocked but I am rather sick of it. This was his last move on his wife before me when he wanted a divorce, why all the work?? Just get a dang divorce and spare us!! If I take the battery out will that work? Will I lose all my contacts and info?

all you have to do once again is turn OFF the GPS... no big deal and problem solved.

by the way, I'd kick him to the curb though by the sounds of this guy..

lol and this is a perfect example why I firmly believe in keeping separate bank accounts, phone accounts...

It does not matter who pays the phone bill. Anyone can pay on the bill really, but if it is under my social/my name it is my account, it affects my credit and no one else gets to make changes on my account.

But since you do have a phone on his account just disable the GPS, it is super simple to do. Good luck.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's tower triangulation so you might be SOL.

But please, if someone knows for sure, correct me.

This is a form of domestic violence. He is controlling you by watching your every move. This is a huge red flag. He will get worse. The fact that he disrespects you by going through your emails, face book as well wil only get worse.
If he is denying you access to the family money, being verbally/emotionally abuse - heaven forbid physically abuse you need to get out now.

I work with woman who are victims and survivors. The first step is to get him out or leave yourself. I would do an order of protection and get him out if you have kids. He will only get worse. PM me if you want to talk.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it uses towers vs. GPS. Pull the battery (when you don't want him to know) or just leave it at home.

been there done that...if you want to be SURE...pull the battery. But sometimes just setting the GPS to off works just fine.

I totally agree with Laureanne. This is not an issue to take lightly. It could escalate to physical harm. You need to get out and get help... and get a pay as you go phone or even an old phone that isn't activated. All cellphones, activated or not, have the ability to dial 911.

    1. Take the battery out and leave the phone at home.
    2. Apply for a free phone. They have a program that will give a free phone to women who are victims of domestic violence. the phone is free and you get a limited amount of minutes a month for free.
    3. Get an order of protection for yourself (and kids if any) and have the police escort him away. If they can't then get out and stay with a friend or family.
    4. Get a divorce and use domestic Violence as the reason.
    5. While working on the above tasks, try and make sure you surround yourself with friends and family in case he goes off the deep end..

From the sounds of things, he is trying to find anything and everything he can to make you look bad if he is planning to divorce you. He is going to try and ruin your image so he can be the big man in court. If not, well then he is just plain insane and you need to get out fast before it gets worse... and it will. I mean you have seen all those women on TV where their husbands lock them away in their own home right?? well dont let this happen to YOU!!

Everyone is talking about divorce. I think the OP was actually asking a technical question but it really IS nice that ppl are offering other advice. Can I make one suggestion? Counseling. None of us knows what is going on there and, like with many posts, we don't know the whole story. So, before we jump to any conclusions, let them work out any of their issues with a professional.

    This is an awful situation.

From a technical standpoint, I believe it uses both GPS and tower Triangulation. So turning off GPS alone won't completely work. But it will be far less accurate.
