I have had three BBs on my corporate BES over the years. This week I switched to an AT&T Curve 8310. Before enterprise activation I put all of my fave 3rd party apps on. After activation the GMail app and Opera Mini work flawlessly. Not so for Google Maps or TeleNav. Starting either of the latter applications results in the following message "The application XXX has attempted to open an external connection which is not allowed by your IT Policy" and then the application terminates. Obviously my IT Policy is intended to keep some 3rd Party apps from acessing the network. I am not neccessarily interested in circumventing the existing IT Policy but I am curoius why some work and others don't. Is it possible that Gmail and Opera access through different ports? I recall that the first versions of Google Mobile Maps worked with my IT Policy. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
