Is there a app out there that will allow you to go over the 160 letter limit? I hate having to end a SMS and start a new one when I am not finished. Thanks

Yes, you'll start typing on the native sms app and then when you get the reached limit message you'll chick on the menu key and select go beyond160. This will take you automatically to the "new app" and you'll continue to tap away. You also have the option to start the msg using beyond160.
All incoming messages come into the native sms app.

Alternatively, you can email someone using the SMS gateways and not have to worry about it, though you lose the threaded-SMS stuff.

All carriers have an SMS gateway.

For instance, you are on verizon. Let's say your phone number is 987-654-3210. I could then email you at: [email protected].

You would receive it as an SMS (and charges still apply if you don't have a bundle). You can either SMS back to me normally, or you can can SMS to my email so I can receive it as an email.

I use this setup with my daughter a lot. I have my berry with mail, but don't have a text bundle. She does. So if I want to text her, I send email via the gateway. And if she chooses to respond, she sends a TXT to my email address. It at least cuts my SMS costs by not having to pay to send a TXT to her, though she would still pay to receive.

    I like crunchsms too.
If you don't want crunchsms tho, the best thing to do is just send a mms.
