    Get it while it's hot!

The latest version is v2.24, released on April 23rd, 2010.

**Please upgrade before continuing to use SmrtGuard**

*** Please perform a manual backup after upgrade ***

    What is New in v2.24?

We have just released SmrtSecurity in v2.24 that is now part of our Mobile Security solution for smartphone users. SmrtSecurity includes Anti-SPAM and Anti-Virus features. With Anti-SPAM, users are now able to block unwanted calls and emails. With our reliable backup technology, the "blacklist" of blocked emails and phone numbers are backed up also, so no more pains of re-entering them when switching devices. With Anti-Virus, we are seeing an increasing number of spyware/malware in the mobile space. Our Anti-virus protection will give users the choice of removing or adding to an ignore list. Please note that these features will ONLY be available on the Pro version of SmrtGuard.

    SmrtSecurity Feature Overview:

    • Anti-SPAM - With SmrtGuard Pro, you can now block unwanted calls (event private and unknown callers) and unwanted emails. SmrtGuard will also backup the list of blocked phone numbers and emails so when you switch device, you don't have to reenter again.

    • Anti-Virus - Afraid of someone installing spyware and malware on your smartphone? We got you covered. Setup scheduled scan and you will known when SmrtGuard finds a potential malware on your Smartphone.

    • New SPAM tab in the Dashboard that allow you to export your SPAM Blacklist.

    • Other improvements and fixes

More info on how to get Smrtguard Pro here!
I just updated, and ran the virus scan. Pretty quick since it looks like all it does is check the installed apps (guess that's all that is needed on a BB, huh?)

Has anybody else notice more of a battery and memory drain
since loading the update (version 2.24)?
Seems to me that my battery is draining faster and
my memory is dropping faster then it used to.
And I notice in the event log, that SmrtGuard is
always checking for something like every couple of minutes
    Copy of my log

I sure have!! And I have recently noticed increased battery drain as well......battery drain is at almost 15% per hour with the new version of Smrtguard installed!! Before it fluctuated between 7-9% per hour on my Tour. No bueno...I will be removing.

Thanks, now I know it's not just my BB.
And I've been seeing battery drain like that also.
I just wrote the company asking if I can get the older version
    back, because of the drainings.

I sure have noticed some memory leak. That's a bummer. Hope SmrtGuard will solve this soon.
By the way, I also noticed the app is checking for updates every few minutes. That explains why this ***** is draining battery and memory.
But to me, Viigo is also responsible for memory drain. I'm bleeding memory right now.

I am also interested in downgrading to an older version. I think that Smrtguard software is terrific and enjoy using it but can't keep it with these astronomical battery drain issues and memory leaks. Please keep us updated.

Well they wrote me back and this is what they had me do
    >>>May we uninstall and reinstall by directing your Blackberry Browser to

SmrtGuard - Your Smartphone Guardian™ and click on Download

    5. Select the Appropriate version for your device

    After installing REACTIVATE by;

    1. launch your smrtguad applcation
    2. press your blackberry's menu key
    3. select About SmrtGuard
    4. on your About SmrtGuard screen again menu key
    5. select REACTIVATE

also regarding your battery drain, please check under follow me option on your
smrtguard application activate by choosing any of the options given, and disable.

after reactivating can you check something for me:

Make sure the application are permissioned to be "Allowed" on your BlackBerry.
Goto Options->Advance Options->Applications-> find and select SmrtGuard and then select "edit permissions". Make sure all the item listed are "Allowed". Save any
setting changes, do a battery pull. And then try again. <<<<

I did that late last night and still see the drains.
They are not as bad as it was when first installed.
    but they are still draining.
I really don't like that when I check my event log
there are enteries there from smartguard, which
I think is causing the drains.
I have to write them and see what happens now.

I DL the newer version (2.25) earlier today after seeing the post here (Thanks duck383). Seems like the battery life and memory drain improved over 2.24.
But it is still there. The reason I say that, is because I un-installed SmrtGuard
of my BB for a few days and didn't see heavy battery drain or memory loss.

I think it has to do with the new programs they added to SmrtGuard
I still get the messages in my event log (W SmrtGuard - EMAIL BLOCKER).
If you check your event log after you get some emails, it will be in the log.
Click on the event in your log and look at the time, it will be the
same time that is on the email you got in your mailbox.
I wish there was a way to shut off that program.
I have other programs to check/block emails if I want to do that.
It shouldn't be checking anything anyway!
I never set it up to do anything in the first place,
    now or on version 2.24.

i think the Email Blocker may be (activating the spam feature) checking email to see if its been blacklisted within the app (i believe) have kept an eye on my battery as i also installed another app yesterday, so far ok

Well something in the program is draining
my memory. I did a BP 15 hrs ago and my
memory went down by 4.0 Mb
Which is high. Tomorrow morning when I do
a BP, I'm going to remove SmrtGuard and
see how much a difference it's going to be.
I really like having SmrtGuard on my BB,
but not if its going to kill my battery or
    wipe out my memory.

Wow... Didn't even know that there was an upgrade from 2.25 to 2.27.
After seeing your post. I went into SmrtGuard and used the programs
"check for updates" and it said I was up to date with 2.25.
I had a dl link for SmrtGuard and clicked on that and there
is 2.27. Hopefully 2.27 will be better on battery and memory drain.
    Thanks

Finally, a version that isn't eating memory. 2.27 is amazing. It's not checking for new installed apps every 2 seconds, so this is def better now.

    Great work, SmrtGuard.
