I don't want 1000 stupid apps, I want good, useful apps and I'm willing to pay for them. Example, docs to go, all my work files are on my bold 9700 and I usually just sync it in the morning and I email all the invoices from my phone instead of outlook. Was it expensive? Yes! Could I do without it? No

Problem is Docs To go exists on other platforms too, and its even more functional too for less $$. there's also QuickOffice, and others. Choice is good not to just have one high cost one.

Who cares if there's 100,000 stupid apps, if you have 150,000 then that still leaves a ton of useful ones. Its how many good ones are available to have choice, not how many bad/stupid ones there are.

Ah, but you'll never find them unless you hear about them somewhere else. You'd have to spend hours flicking trough them. Less is better. Most apps are doing something your blackberry can do already if you bother to learn the shortcuts.

I once read an article that listed a good portion of the shortcuts (not all, there were definitely some major ones missing), and there was like 100+ shortcuts iirc. though it may have been 40-50

So being that many people complain that BB apps are too expensive, they go and try to fix the problem by making apps more expensive. RIMM should be running governments with that strategy.

Lol, you don't give up on truncating do ya? I would chose speed over no truncating any day. Knowing that I get my emails within seconds from being sent gives me peace of mind. But that's just me

Just saw an article where Rim just took an additional 10% fro all current and future app builders. I guess that means they take 30% of the top of all app builders. Apple does the same but they are a much easier platform to build for and that is a kick in the *** for all potential new app builders. Why build for the blackberry platform when they can build for an easier platform and sell many more apps. Rim needs more great apps, this isn't going to help at all.
GREAT POINT! can't argue with you here

you can get this on almost every platform now, Android, iPhone with no truncation of emails, and of course the phones are way faster then the Blackberry. So tell me there must be more thats keeping you around then some fast/truncated emails?

Ah, but fast on paper and fast in use are two different things. I can open 4 different aplications in 2 seconds on my blackberry. Can other platforms do that? Here's how it's done: home screen press b for browser/ end call/ y for yahoo messenger / end call/ g for google talk/ end call/ l for calendar = 4 apps open and running at the same time.

And, no, no other platform has true push email for up to 10 accounts at the time, no exchange needed, out of the box.

on the iPhone you dont need to set up a shortcut at all just click on the yahoo icon with your finger i mean thats pretty simple just sayin

and as far as email accounts the device can hold 4.0 is about 2 months away so goodluck with that argument come August after the new iPhone comes out.

But will it be push email? In my opinion pull email is such a waste, it's a lot of data used for nothing, wastes battery plus it can hit you with a huge bill if you have 10 accounts set to pull every 5 minutes and you are abroad.
There is no alternative to a blackberry just yet.

I'd rather get all my content on a delay than only some of it immediately. Unless I actually ask when someone sent their email, I don't know whether it came fast or slow anyway.

While it may be Push email, it's VERY IMPORTANT that you don't leave out the part on how NOT ALL supported email conduits support "Instant" Push. That's a BIG omission on the Push statement that RIM and RIM lovers seem to pilfer around. Push or not, some of us don't like waiting 15 minutes for an email delivery once it's already hit the server mailbox. With other platforms, we have a choice, with RIM we do not.

Yes you do, set your email account trough imap instead of pop and you'll have instant emails instead of 15 min waiting time.

What if the account doesn't support IMAP genius? You do realize that IMAP is an old email conduit technology that's been raped in more ways then one in the past and has not been traditionally used due to security concerns... or did you not?

Nope, no idea, I just know that's how I got my work email to be instant. I went from 15 minutes to 7 seconds every time.
On the other hand, you can't expect RIM to support every single obscure email provider in the world lol

And sorry, mobile me is not an alternative to blackberry push email, it supports one account only, it's not exactly out of the box and it costs about 90 a year for the privilege.

Oh how I love it when you make assumptions. lol Not using POP on these perticular accounts. As discussed before, they're Exchange ActiveSync/OWA capable.

Exchange is not obscure. However, a singular Exchange account support with instant Push (i.e. BES integration, because it would be nice to have all my mailbox subfolders as well) is obscure and played out. Pretty much all other platforms support mutiple ActiveSync account setup... why can't RIM devise a way to support muliple BES or BESX accounts no the same handset, but only give one or even none of them policy control over the handset via admin support/choice? Hummm, is that so hard to come up with and implement?

Lol, never mind BES, that's usually imposed on people, they don't really have a choice. The big boys chose that for its "big brother abilities"

Exchange is not out of the box, neither free so that doesn't really count.

What other options does a regular consumer have if he wants his 10 email accounts(gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc) pushed directly to his phone?

All other mobile platforms support IMAP as a protocol, so their delivery is just as fast. Bottom line, BIS/IMAP is the only "instant" Push RIM has for the consumer and that's already supported by other platforms and I don't think the platforms limit the count to 10 because the account setups are on the devices themselves as apposed to on BIS for RIM.

So, again, that's not really that big of an issue if at all, since most platforms support IMAP instant Push. The big support issues is multiple Enterprise email account support on RIM's end, not the other platforms since almost all support multiple Enterprise email accounts with INSTANT Push.... something RIM doesn't do.
