This needs more explanation as they left out some steps....

    Instead of this:
    1. Go to Options > Applications
    2. Press Menu > "Edit *Default* Permissions". Note the "Default".
    3. Set all three categories to "Allow"
    4. Menu > Save
    5. Do a real battery pull.

    It should be this:

    Instead of this:
    1. Go to Options > Applications
    2. Press Menu
    3. Go way down past the Edit Permissions keep going down
    4. down to the bottom more it says Edit Default Permissions
"Edit *Default* Permissions". Note the "Default".
    5. Set all three categories to "Allow"
    6. Menu > Save
    7. Do a real battery pull.

Basically I kept editing the regular permissins not the DEFAULT ones that are in a Different place on the MENU.
thanks for posting this. I was getting quite frustrated. now its working

Yeah, I just upgraded to OS 5.0.0.328 on my 9530 (Verizon) yesterday, and I was so disappointed that QuickPull Pro wasn't working for me anymore. I have an Otterbox cover which is really fantastic, but unfortunately that also means that physical battery pulls are a real pain in the tush for me.

I was thrilled to find this thread on CrackBerry.com! I really appreciate all the expert advice on here - especially the post from CrackBerry Abuser, bbstorm4me, who provided the Steelthorn Software links to the QuickPull on OS 5.0 FAQ and the new QuickPull Pro (v3.6.0) download for OS 5.0.

Unfortunately, despite all that greatness. The new update from Steelthorn Software for QuickPull Pro is not working for me yet on my 9530 device. At first when I tried the new download, I received the dreaded "907 invalid COD" error message.

Kudos to Steelthorn Software for having a great FAQ site that explained the "907 invalid COD" error message means that the "device cannot find specific components needed during installation." The remedy for this problem is to first completely uninstall the QuickPull application, reboot the device, and then attempt the installation again.

After uninstalling the QuickPull application, I did a bothersome, old-fashioned, traditional battery pull on the device.

The reinstallation of QuickPull Pro (v3.6.0) worked fine after the reboot, and my old QuickPull Pro registration code was accepted just fine. I then made sure that compatibility mode was turned off and that QuickPull permissions for Connection, Interactions, and User Data were all set to "Allow."

The total installed application size for QuickPull Pro v3.6.0 was 77,868 bytes with QuickPull and QuickPullMonitor being the two application modules and QuickPullLibrary being the one library module.

I was getting kind of excited and hopeful at this point that the Steelthorn Software update was going to finally work reliably once again for OS 5.0!

However, I tried an immediate reboot (11.9 MB of free space in application memory) and received an Application Permissions popup dialog confirmation: "Would you like to grant QuickPullLib Trusted Application status?"

Of course I clicked on the "Yes" choice, but then immediately received a "Something went wrong. Aborting. See device log for more details." error message.

Knowing that the device log often grows very quickly, I then went and cleared out my entire event log, went back into QuickPull Pro and tried another immediate reset. The great news is that the error is easily and consistently replicated on my device. As a software developer, I totally understand how frustrating it can be to the development team to see those errors that sometimes show up and sometimes don't - that wasn't the case here.

The clean event log from my 9530 with OS 5.0.0.328 shows the following log details for this QuickPull Pro reset failure:

I believe the key to the solution lies somewhere in the ApplicationTrustLevelManager error. The details for this error are:

    Event Information
    Name: ApplicationTrustLevelManager
    Severity: Error
    GUID: f04a6deab36cbdc0

How about it? Does anyone on this thread want to give a shot at a resolution for this one?

As I mentioned up above, I use an Otterbox condom for my 9530, so physical battery pulls really suck for me. I would so love to be able to use QuickPull Pro on the OS 5.0 platform, but so far it's just not happening.

BTW, hats off to RIM for a great platform update! I'm loving the new features and enhancements in OS 5.0 so far with the exception of this little hiccup I'm having with QuickPull.

    Cheers,
    Steve in Seattle

    All -

Please see this thread regarding why you should not be blindly setting all of your DEFAULT permissions to Allow. It completely opens your phone so any application you install in the future will have uninhibited access to your emails, files, contacts, internet connection, etc. without you knowing.

If you want to take that risk, it is up to you. But make sure you understand what you're doing first.

Ironically after installing the new quickpull I was getting a pretty bad memory leak. I un installed it and in 8 hours I have only dropped 0 .1mb

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
I finally have just given up completely on Steelthorn Software and QuickPull Pro.

I saw a recommendation on another thread that Meterberry by Giant Cashew Software was the way to go for simluated battery pulls. It was certainly cheap enough to purchase, and seems to have soooo much more capability!

The funny thing is that since deleting the QuickPull Pro application from my 9530 device and installing Meterberry, I don't see the rapidly disappearing memory from my application memory that I used to see!

This leads me to suspect that QuickPull Pro was the memory leak culprit causing my application memory to disappear over time and require a simulated battery pull to reset my device.

Meterberry definitely appears so far to be the much better choice for simulated battery pulls and for a generally great battery and memory monitoring application!
