- Cheetah writes that ShortcutMe was not considered for the CB contest.
That is exactly what the problem is here.
To be able to use the contest result against another app, you have to make sure that the other app has also been considered in the contest!
When ShortcutMe was listed as All Time Best BlackBerry Apps in 2009, QuickLuanch was considered but never added to the list for apparent reason.
QL was flickered so badly that users could not use it, users complained that it had no customer support, the QL developer got so rude and personal on CB threads that CB moderators had to either delete the entire thread or remove just the rude posts.
ShortcutMe:
If ShortcutMe wasn't a good app you wouldn't copy these important "home-made" and unique features of ShortcutMe: MultiClick features, Launching by 1-3 shortcut keys, Shortcut creation by selecting from an Application List,
Alternative Launching Methods, Key Simulation for toggling, and many more.
Funny how you didn't mention the QuickLaunch features that you incorporated into Shortcutme.08-10-10 01:44 PMLike 0 - Croatia example is a good example for why QL wasn't qualified for the All Time Best BlackBerry Apps. Because QL was flickering, had bad customer support and the users had to pay for the fix.
It could simply not be qualified.
As for the CB productivity app, I would find an example that could show why a country was "bicoted" and wasn't allowed to play in the qualification games, let alone the other games.
Again, if you say that ShortcutMe is that bad that it doesn't even qualifiy for a contest you wouldn't have copied the essential features of it, would you?

- Direct Launch is a feature in ShortcutMe where users can launch apps without even creating a shortcut for it. They enter initials or part of the app name (or shortcutMe's functions) to launch it. They Directly Launch it (without going through shortcuts).
I don't think QL had it before and I don't think you have it today.
Why should I add that in my list?

Not until I prod him for more information in the thread does he say he's looking for people to test out his program. Why didn't he say that to begin with!
His website says "free 7 days trial"... ShortcutMe, Fastest BlackBerry Shortcuts Application
So I go there to download a free trial. But now he tells me/us that he's stopping that for a while. Okay np, why doesn't he just take the "free trial" off his website??? And instead of trying to resolve the problem/miscommunication caused by him on his website with a prospective customer, he goes on to "flame" the prospective customer. Now that's a great way to generate new business and/or interest in his product.
Maybe the problem isn't exactly trouble with the language, but trouble with his overall thinking/communication skills. If I were him or represented his company, I'd have someone else handling the company communication, but hey what do I know.
I've already wasted more time than I'd like to merely try out his program. As I've said before, I currently use QuickLaunch and it works fine. I'll just stick with it. np08-10-10 04:44 PMLike 0 - My saying that this guy has trouble communicating was not a "flame". He just can't communicate clearly, period! You think I'm kidding? Take a look at this post where he means to ask for "beta testers" but doesn't really say it:

1- Send an email to support at shortcutme dot com, include these in your email:
- Your CrackBerry username
- "Interested in trying SCM 4.3.7 for 8300"
Ironically it's your point that is coming across incorrectly, according to you...08-10-10 06:14 PMLike 0 - DaVeNuE, It doesn't help you to become meaner!
I am in the process of releasing new version of 3 applications for more than 20 different BlackBerry models, something that is not easy and is very time consuming.
I don't have time to keep all the web pages updated in the same time.
This happens to many developers.
But the real problem are apparently the followings:
1- You don't know how to communicate nicely.
2- You don't understand (in clear English) that you can get a link for trial version if you send email.
3- You don't know when you are in the position of saying one thing is better than the other one.
Until you don't deal with those serious communication/language/logical problems of yours, you are just a spam and waisting everybody's time.08-10-10 06:28 PMLike 0 - Sorry, as soon as I read this, I know exactly what he's talking about.
It's the 3rd sentence in the post... I didn't have to try to understand it. Even if I did, that has nothing to do with someones ability to speak english...
Ironically it's your point that is coming across incorrectly, according to you...
As the moderator AG mentioned, he comes off like a child [as well as the QL rep] and doesn't do his product or Company any good. If that's the image he wants to paint, so be it. I'll move on...08-10-10 07:04 PMLike 0 - @Vijik and CheetahAce.
You both have to know neither are acquiting yourselves well with this pissing contest.
Both of you have fine products. Some will like one, some will like the other and then there
will always be the one ***** who just wants to start a war (neither of you but I am sure
you both catch my drift).
Give a rest guys. You both make each other better. We the users of your work thank you
but wish you could put half of the professionalism that you put into your apps into
your conduct.

It's like reading the drama of BlackBerry versus Droid. It almost everytime comes down to physical keyboard versus touch screen. Some people just don't want to do touch screen. But we have the battles nonetheless of who's better than who.
I don't know of any other BB developers that battle like these two do. I came across SCM recently at a sale for $1.71 and I didn't bite when I realized that I would have to give up QL to use it. I have done the SCM trial. It's not for me. I don't like it. I like quick and simple. I like the menu option of QL. I don't like multi-clicking of side keys and alt keys and that jazz. But many do. For those who do, SCM rocks. It's just sad that these two developers can't let BlackBerry users be "To Each His Own". No, they got to battle. Why? Likely because you can't use both at the same time. You can use most other competing apps at the same time, but with these shortcut apps, you need to choose one. Theme hotspot keys can only be assigned to one of them, so if you got SCM, you can't use QL, and vice versa. Or, least it's been my epxerience you can't use them both at the same time with theme hotspots.
Who's better is a subjective opinion and depends on how the user wants to access the shortcuts, imo.08-10-10 07:44 PMLike 0 -
