I have Verizon.
Will I need to get the tether data plan if I use these?
Will my bill be any higher?
Anyway I can get caught? What will happen?

No
No
Yes, If you pull too much data (like say streaming movies)
Usually the first time is a warning, second time is a throttle, third strike your done
what if i use to play video games and such?
like COD4 on pc online?
would be better off just using the Verizon tether feature?
The tethering plan has a 5GB cap if i remember correctly, so playing inline games would probably chew that up fast
so mobishark/tetherberr would be better?
I use tetherberry but i don't use it for playing online games.
Online games don't use ver much bandwidth, with a 5GB limit you will be fine as long as you avoid large file downloads such as patches and whatnot.

I have mobishark and I don't recommend it. It uses a proxy and it is very limiting. I wish I could say it worked good with browsing but it doesn't unless it is a very basic web site. It's even less functional for software that does not allow you to enter a proxy.
When I had a PocketPC phone I used PDANet and that was a great product. They have a BlackBerry solution now and I am seriously considering purchasing it even though I already own a version of MobiShark.
