Welcome to CrackBerry!
What app version are you using? I've never seen that issue. The app hasn't been updated in quite some time. Latest is 4.5.3
The problem is not just with the 9800. It is occurring globally with BB users. There is a work around. You have to ditch the most recent version of Google maps and revert to version 3 and sort of hack an install. It really started to fail the weekend of March 9th. I am in Canada and that sis when I became aware of the issue but if you follow the Google Maps forum its everywhere, Europe, Vietnam, South America, all over the US etc. One junior Google employee made a comment 6 days ago they were looking at it but the most telling response is silence from both BB and Google. One forum user posted the following comment:
Spoke to BB team at Orange who tell me that latitude is no longer compatible with the updated version of Google maps and google are only allowing access to iOS and android OS. Is this right as I have found no mention of this on the internet anywhere??
Please Google - what is going on?
Love to have some media on this and find out if Google is ditching BB for maps and if BB is simply suffering this in silence.

Im using 4.5.3... I heard now the oldest version should working fine... So I will try it... It is very strange... Its now not working since 1 week.... `-`......
The issue came and went a couple months ago, and wasn't as described, but you can follow the advice in the thread below, and see if it helps.

Hmmmmmmmmm.......
Strike that, dang it! New problem, and the above I doubt will resolve it at all. :(
Getting really tired of issues with google, from privacy to this crap. If they think it's going to push me from BlackBerry to them, they've lost their minds. If I did switch platforms, Android would be last on my list.
