I think it uses a 64k stream, but I'm not positive.
Thanks for the specifics - details like this will help us in attempting to replicate this problem on our development device.

If you need testers - you know where to find me!
I was reading through all the posts wondering what all the issues were about. I installed Pandora a few days ago and it has been running great with good sound quality.. Then I just did that speed test that was posted above and I think I see why mine works so well..
Average speed test results for 4 tests:
down - 360.34
up - 274.51
Hi Marc @ Pandora,
A little OT, but do you have any idea if/when you will make a Pandora application for phones with Googles Android operating system? There is only the G1 right now, but there are supposed to be several launched this year.
Kyle
Unfortunately I can't give specifics, but we're currently working on a number of additional Pandora mobile solutions, so stay tuned and keep checking our Pandora Mobile page...

I like it. Slacker froze my Storm too much. Pandora is easier to use for sure. Very accurate.
I use it at home connected to a dock. The sound is fine there. The sound is not too great
In my car. But I am stil keeping it!

I'll take on screen ads to the Slacker ads that break into the music. Was working on restoring a beach house on the Bolivar Peninsula near Galveston this weekend and loved the quality of the 'Coldplay' station as the power went out while I put together some new furniture. Deleted Slacker & Iheartradio because of the quality of songs and lack of commercials. Access to Bookmarks will be a plus, but for the Storm I'm really happy. A handful of other 'quality' apps like this will help me get over the ridiculous memory bleed and poor App World mobile layout.

How can u listen 2 your phone on your motorcycle? Just got my bike, and was trying 2 figure out a way 2 use my phone for the radio purpose.
Pandora left MANY features out on the Blackberry version. Hate to say it but the iPhone Pandora is MUCH better. I'm sticking with Slacker until Pandora gets their ISHT together. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!
Good Ap Goes Str8 To The Point And What U Wanna Hear, Slacker And I-heart Aint Touchin It!! Haha
I just recently installed this app. after installing it it worked flawlessly, and sounded great for streaming music. but my app glitched, and only played 1 song then stoped then had to press next. which isn't ideal for me turning it on then listening to it during work.
so has anyone else had this problem? if so is there a way to fix it? i reinstalled it and i'm testing it right now.. seems to be workign fine, but i'll test it tomorrow to see how it works.
Sorry to disappoint! If it's any consolation, the iPhone app was pretty basic when it first came out, too. The development platforms for iPhone and BlackBerry are completely different so it's not just a matter of porting what we have for the iPhone to the BlackBerry - we essentially had to start from scratch. Rest assured that development of the BlackBerry client will continue, so hopefully we can implement some of the "extra" features that the iPhone client has.
We're definitely aware of this issue (along with similar issues such as songs starting from the beginning after system alert sounds) and we're working with RIM to identify the cause and hopefully a solution. There's currently no known workaround that we can add to our application to fix it. For now, we've noticed if you do a full phone reset (pull the battery) that it will sometimes fix it (temporarily).

Marc - would it help if folks posted the OS that hey are using? I'm using .109 - and haven't had the problems (other than mono).
Also - could the whether it goes back to the beginning of a song, or continues after an alert depend on download speed and/or how much is actually buffered?
Keep up the great work!
I know I read in a previous post that the hiccup at 13 seconds into each song wasn't occurring on Pandora like it did on Slacker.
Well it does, at least for me.
Thanks Philly. For your first question - yes that information would be helpful but I'm not sure how to best collect this information without spamming the thread with a bunch of new posts. Maybe a new thread in the Storm forum? Poll?
As for the second question - that's an interesting theory and I'll test out whether or not that makes a difference.
Marc @ Pandora
After installing Pandora on the Storm, I am unable to play any .wma files "Error Playing". "The media being played is of an unsupported format." Once I uninstalled Pandora, the .wma files are playable again.
Even though the sound quality was mediocre, I'd still like to try Pandora Radio again if anyone knows of a fix for this issue.
Marc, that would be an awesome option to have!!!
Btw thanks to you and pandora for talking to us.

This happens in Slacker as well. My guess is it is a hardware thing.
You are correct - the BlackBerry APIs don't give you access to the volume keys when your application is running in the background. However, it does appear that you can listen for the "mute" button on top of the device, so I'll look into adding that into the next version so you can play/pause the music quickly, without having to bring it back to the foreground.

I'm sorry but I have to chime in on this.
First, loving Pandora so far since it's new for me. However, the sound quality in the BB version really is noticeably worse than Slacker and I wish they would change it. I listen to both through my car's auxiliary in and it's definitely noticeable. If Slacker has the same bitrate but the different compression to make it stereo, then I would hope that Pandora would do the same. I'm trying not to complain because I love the app, but the sound over BB is def not as good as Slacker's.
Thanks Pandora Developers for a nice BB app nonetheless.
I just downloaded Pandora, and created an account. App seems to work pretty well so far. The sound is mono, which was a surprise. I'm listening with bluetooth stereo headphones, which I could never get to work right with Slacker. I updated to OS .132 earlier this evening, and had no problems with that either. Better go get a lottery ticket before I use up all my good luck!
Its nice to see a Pandora dev active here too.
Thanks again for this app, looking forward to updates :)
anyway else think the program has a memory leak?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
Doesn't seem to leak to me. Been watching it with MeterBerry and it seems pretty consistent.
Does it work with .132?
Sure does - if you look at my previous post I mentioned that I had installed .132 the same day and it worked fine.
