Sure Trev. This is what I did and I have an 8350i with DM 5.0.0.11 and software 4.6.1.204 with Boost.

1. I made sure 1.7 is uninstalled by going to Advanced Options > Applications (delete it from there if it still shows).

2. I downloaded the file then extracted the contents (it's a RAR file so use winrar or 7zip or something...you're on your own on this step).

3. I Connected my BB to my PC via DM and went to Application Loader. I double checked to make sure "Facebook" is not showing on the list of installed programs.

4. Went to Application Loader > Add/Remove Applications, then went to "Browse" and pointed it to the folder where I extracted
the FB 1.6 files. I selected to open the facebook.alx file then clicked Next.

5. It showed a screen saying it's going to install Facebook. I clicked Finish and disconnected my BB from my PC. I checked all the folders and found it in the Applications folder.

Thanks so much. I was ready to kill someone. Now its back up and running after 12 hours.

Am I right in saying you cant install 1.6 on v4.5 via DM because it doesn't have an alx file and that's what is needed to install via DM? I don't know how to install with BBSAK, do I install each COD file seperately? Or do I just transfer the jad file and then explore and install?

Just copy the extract 4.5 folder to your BB media card. Then go to media >explore>Media card>BB>folder FACEBOOK os 4.5. After you find FACEBOOK folder open it and then clik on file FACEBOOK 1.6. Os 4.5 with 1 kb size. The download screen will appear and the rest of it will be ok.

Are those OTA links? I've tried them and they only direct me to the download site...and do not open a download screen where I can load 1.6 directly to my Bold. What am I doing wrong?

I gave up.. Could not find a solution, so i stayed with stupid 1.7 and waiting for the newer version!!

Coz i downloaded 1.6 and it says that i need a data connection?

It's just a bit weird. My mom has the same phone (curve 8900) and her facebook works over wifi.

Hope someone can share any info about this.

Btw, her phone is locked to our philippine carrier
while i got an unlocked one from the US. Does that affect anything?
(Everything else works fine)
