I am running Opera Mini on my Verizon Storm 2 and on the 3g network (yes wifi is turned off), according to the 3mb upload/download test on Testmyiphone.com - iPhone Speed Test, I get 9.119 Mbps down and 5.950 Mbps up , that's some mighty data compression on Opera's part.
The BLackberry Browser tested a mere 2.85 down and .08 Up.
I know what browser I'll use when traveling abroad.
You're not doing a correct comparison because the end-to-end path isn't the same. At the end of the day, everybody agrees Opera Mini is faster. It's just not as secure, so there is a tradeoff.
