Hi all, anyone try Opera mini 5 for our curves? Downloading it now, ill give it a go.

Played with it for a while and then gave opera mini a try... Giggedy j/k but it does seem slower but I love the tabbed browsing and the * + UP DWN Left or Right shortcuts. Took me a while to fugure out the scrolling up and down on the number pad too but overall its okay. I like it better than Bolt but not by much.

I've been using since about 5pm eastern. Seems just a little slow, but could be because of rush to download overload their servers.

I downloaded it, but I still like version 4.2 better. 4.2 is faster to navigate and has faster shortcuts.

I tried it and it said something about couldn't connect. I went back to version 4.2 and it is still working good. I had not deleted 4.2 first, could that have bothered the operation of 5.

I tried it and it looks wonderful! I haven't used Opera 4.2..so I can't compare to another Opera client. The page loading is decently fast but I think navigating the pretty slow through the menu is pretty slow. Maybe the new Opera just requires too much of the 8330?

I'm having trouble opening embedded links with OM5. Clicking any link in tweets or emails pops up "open in Opera Mini" as the only option to open, and yet OM5 won't open the link when it switches apps. Is there any way to restore BB Browser as my default or to get OM5 to work? At this point I can see pros and cons of both so I don't want to dump OM5 yet...

Just got it and tried it out. I like it and it looks a lot better than 4.2... But I did notice some lag... 4.2 runs smoother but ill wait it out and see if there's an improvement.

    tabbed browsing = win

yeah the interface is a little laggy, but its a beta, I'm sure it will speed up and the official release will run great on our 8330's

Agreed, I'm sure the official version will be awesome. For now, however, I'm sticking with Bolt.

I'm kind of disapointed. It looks cool, navigation is choppy like Bolt. When it works t seems a bit faster than Bolt & BBB, but that doesn't seem to be often. I'm getting a lot of pauses w/ the hour glass. The 8900 & 9000 series folks seem to like it, so I'm guessing this is more of an 8300 processor/memoey issue.
On the other hand, I'm typing this directly on the page, rather than having to go to a text entry screen. That's a huge improvement.
Anyone know where the RSS reader went? I haven't trolled the Op Mini 5 Beta thread in 3rd Party Software yet.

And whats with download it to your computer and there is no download for 4.5 OS, only 4.2, 4.3 and 4.7? What happened to 4.5?

I like the tabs. It does seem a little slower than 4.2. However, I still think it is faster than Bolt or BBBrowers.

I tried it this morning and it is very slow for me. I couldn't get the Space bar to "page down" and many of the shortcuts didn't work or they took so long, maybe I thought they didn't work. I love the tabbed browsing and the overall look, but I also miss the RSS feeds. I removed it and I'll wait until it goes final. Looks very promising though.

I'm having a similar problem. OM5 seems to be the default browser for links in SocialScope (links in twitter) and I can't find a way to change it. Links in email still go to BBB, not sure on other apps though.

I was getting a lot of pauses with the hour glass too, a reboot this morning has helped greatly. Can't say it's faster than the BBB yet, but the reboot helped.

Opera has always been ify for me since I got the curve. The 4.2 version sometimes takes forever or doesn't load up the pages. The version 5 is frusterating to navigate but I'm sure with time it will become better. For now I've just been using the regular browser.

Little too slow navigating the menu for me. But does look promising, I like the tabs and everything though, especially the "open in Opera Mini" in the menu list for UT5. I'll wait a bit for the final release. Plus, I have a feeling that it's a little too demanding of the 8330s. Back to BOLT for now...

I still have both and am checking out the differences in them. Tabbed browsing is cool, but I will admit I used BBB more often than not.

I liked Opera Mini so well this go around, I downloaded Opera for my PC and am really enjoying that.

Hit the BB menu button, then scroll up to the tabs, then scroll left or right until you're on the tab you want to close, hit BB menu button again and the option to "Close Tab" comes up.

Just clicked on a link in a text sent to me, this also is defaulting to OM5 and the link didn't work. I'm going to have to uninstall OM5 just for the fact that there seems to be no way to change these defaults and half the time the links don't work. Anyone figure out how to change the default browser?

I think v5 has pretty steep requirements compared to v4. The previous version was insanely simple, but now they have all this eyecandy stuff and all those features...
