Opera Mini has practically become the primary browser for BBOS devices many years ago as it can open many more web pages than the native BB Browser. With OM all requested pages are first pre-processed and compressed at Opera Software's proxy server and then transmitted to the mobile device. This increases the compatibility with web pages not designed for small screens and also increases the speed of transmission (as the compression ratio is said to be around 90%).

    1) Opera Mini can be downloaded OTA directly from Opera Software ASA server using BB Browser and the following address:

    m.opera.com

The installation is performed in two stages:

stage #1: installing files OTA (or from the archive saved on SD card)

stage #2: installing more files from Opera servers at first start up

The last available version of OM for BlackBerry is v8.0.35659. Despite the same version number the interface is different for keyboard-only devices (like Curve) and keyboard + touch screen devices (like Bold).

    2) Right after the installation the keyboard shortcut scheme should be changed from Opera Mini to BlackBerry. Below are a few screenshots with my settings. The configuration options are the same for Bold and Curve, except for Text Wrapping (Curve has no option to turn it off).

Please do not enable Opera Link. It was used in the past to sync bookmarks between different devices but had never worked properly on my end. I am not sure if it is still supported with OM v8.

The list of all keyboard shortcuts can be found in Settings - Help.

    3) You can move around pages saved on the Speed Dial using "BlackBerry" keyboard shortcuts, by pressing keys one after another (and not together, like Windows Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V):

    Alt * 1
    Alt * 2
    Alt * 3
    etc.

The Speed Dial is customizable. To edit or delete an entry:

    Bold: click on Manage button
    Curve: hit W key

    4) The most important keyboard shortcuts to learn first are D and Z (as some websites work better in Single Column view). Here are all shortcuts:

Alt*1: 1st page on Speed Dial, etc
    D: fit-to-window selected section
Z: single column view on/off + page reload
    K: bookmarks
    A: add bookmark
F: find on page (next = enter)
    G: address bar
    Y: history
    H: start page
    R: reload
    S: settings
    N: night mode
    T: page top
    B: page bottom
    U: hide toolbar
W: new tab, select text (W-click-select-click)

    5) Opera Mini supports multiple tabs (hit W key; works on both Bold and Curve):

Tab selection on Bold must be done from the touch screen (see the last screenshot above). On Curve it is done with the trackpad (scroll to the top of the window and select the tab, hit Menu to close it):

    6) To clear History hit YW. Then "Clear All" on Bold must be done from the touch screen. Here are the screenshots from Bold and Curve:

    https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/4162/QwNleJ.jpg

    7) To copy and paste text on Curve:

    - place cursor at the start point
    - W - click trackpad - select text
    - click trackpad - copy
    - paste where needed

You can click "copy" with the trackpad or select it with Enter key. On Bold the text selection must be done with the touch screen.

    8) Menu on Bold can only be accessed from the touch screen:

    https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/6812/vdWRdh.jpg

On Curve it is accessed using Menu key:

    --------------------------------
A note for those users who prefer the keyboard over the touch screen. Opera Mini version installed on Bold is a real nuisance. It is just impossible to use the thing without touching the screen all the time. So far I have been unable to find a workaround:

Unfortunately, opera doesn't work with those annoying cookies panels. You can't skip them. So it's useless as a Web browser since almost every site use it.

The information provided above is completely wrong, 100%. I suspect that the poster didn't realize that this is BBOS Apps subforum and not BB10 subforum. The problems with cookie policy panels mentioned above probably affect Opera Mini version for BB10 devices, but those panels have no effect whatsoever on Opera Mini v8.0 for BB Bold and BB Curve discussed in this thread.

ForexLive website is a perfect example, as it has huge cookie policy panel at the bottom:

    https://www.forexlive.com/

The screenshots below show how it looks in the web browser on PC and in Opera Mini v8.0 on BB 9720:

Windows 11 Forum is another example:

    I'm sorry. I was talking about BB10.
