I would think most users would agree that having their default reminder is the preferred choice. Thank you, Russ. Going to get the update.

I've fixed the issue with reminders defaulting to none on the calendar entries, for now I've simply hard coded a 0 minute alarm which you can, of course, change if you wish when creating the entry. Ongoing, I would prefer it if I was able to pre-populate the fields in the calendar entry with the defaults chosen in the calendar app. If I find this to be feasible I will do so.

A new SpeedNotes 0.3.1 volatile is available with the above fix.

Works perfectly Russ! Fixed the calendar reminder issue. thank you

I forgot to mention that I also sneaked in the automatic .txt extension option on saved files. This defaults to yes and can be turned off again on the options screen.

I've been giving some thought to the request for hotkeys in the app. The one issue with this is that they would only be usable when the note editing area was not in focus as any key combination, for example alt+c for a calendar entry, would conflict with the normal key sequences for numbers and other symbols.

Being a touchscreen user I am not personally used to using hotkeys on my berry although they are of obvious benefit on my PC for example. I could code the hotkeys so that escape would need to be pressed first but then that would detract from the speed and convenience of the application as you would need to hit it twice to exit SpeedNotes.

I would definitely value any opinions on this subject.

My two cents here, your main intent with this app was to be a quick, super easy, low impact app to take quick notes and have them still be there when you opened it. You have more than done that and corrected all issues with it. I say package up this puppy and take it to market. Why over-complicate such a nice easy to use app?

+1 totally agree. Only SMS issue left to fix and all is good to hit market imo, or just remove send with sms feature if cant be fixed

Yes , I agree keep it a realitively simple and fast note app, (which you have achieved) . This is the most used app on my torch

I agree with the others above. It's not too heavy of an app at this point.
I'd buy it just as it is...& I am planning to buy it.
I think you've done an amazing job with SpeedNotes. Thank You!

I agree. You've gone above and beyond the original scope and intent of this app. It's time to wrap it up and take it to market. Any further improvements and features can be an upgrade option at a later time.

I agree with everyone else that there's not really a need for hotkeys. I think you have an excellent little program here and I'm not kidding when I say I think it will reach 'SuperApp' status.

Thank you to everyone for sharing your opinions, I value them all! My plan based on everyone's input is to implement a workaround for the SMS issue and then to launch the app on Mobihand and AppWorld.

Those of you who are familiar with my theme work will know that I don't shelve development after I launch something, but continue to improve a product based upon customer feedback. This will definitely be the case with SpeedNotes. I am also committed to finding some answers to the multi-language issues that were brought up but this will take a lot of further investigation still.

I'm going to work towards 0.3.1 beta containing a fix for the SMS issue, then once that is determined to be solid I'll be moving to 1.0.0 and launch.

    Thanks again!

    Russ.

Ok, there is now a new 0.3.1 volatile available that implements my own SMS code. Upon clicking 'Send as SMS' you will be presented with your contacts list, selecting a contact will either throw an error message (if the contact does not contain a number suitable for SMS'ing) or present you with a dialog choice of the numbers available for that contact. Clicking the contact will then send the SMS message in the background.

Note that the SMS will not appear in your messages list, unfortunately, this is a side effect of sending messages with this API method rather than the API which I originally used that had more bugs than an open box of donuts in a picnic at the local landfill. I have toyed with the idea of allowing a choice between both methods, however, I can imagine now the barrages of support emails and confusion that might cause.

I've sent some test SMS's to myself, my wife has gone to bed so I can't keep using her as a guinea pig (I'm at work), and everything seems to be working. I would appreciate some wreckless attempts at breaking this new code!

    Russ.

LoL! I'm a complete twit sometimes....

I have a check that will truncate the message to keep it within the 160 character limit for SMS... however, I forgot to check if the message *IS* actually greater than 160 characters before trying to chop it.... hence index out of bounds! I was testing with huge messages.

Ok, a new volatile is up which should work properly. I also updated the help text screen.
