No Smoking - Entertainment BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Apps Store
A couple dechade ago, I bought a special purpose device for just exactly that function. It works by extending the interval between smokes until you are down to zero.No Smoking is an app made for anyone who is having troubles breaking their habit. No Smoking is an app designing to slowly wean you off your habit. The app starts in learn mode where it records your habits frequency and severity. When you are ready to quit you exit learn mode and begin quit mode. At this point the app tailors a quit schedule based on the data it has collected during learn mode. Unlike patches that have 3 stages which quickly drop your nicotine levels between phases, No Smoking slowly drops your nicotine levels over time. You will hardly notice you've cut back until you've quit. There is also a motivation and tip section for when you are feeling weak or you are slipping off your schedule. The app also keeps track of some very interesting statistics including averages, maximums, minimums, saved money, saved tar and nicotine levels and more. Even if you aren't ready to quit, buy this app and run it for a while, then check the stats and you may just change your mind. All future updates to this app will be free of charge to anyone who has purchased any version. For a little more than the price of a pack of smokes you won't regret purchasing this app.
Features:
learn up to 250 smokes
keep track of money, smokes, nicotine and more
quit at your own pace with many options to tailor to your situation
manually add or remove smokes for when you forget
motivation and tips for when you are feeling weak
The theory is, if your nicotine consumption is reduced to near zero, it makes it possible to quit without the effect of nicotine withdrawal.
Many years, and many thousands of $$$ later, I was able to beat my addiction through lifestyle changes and scheduled withdrawal using a nicotine patch.
Looks interesting indeed. The price does make me stop and think though...
The price of a couple packs of smokes, not even 1 pack in Canada .... does that make you stop and think?Special Price: $9.99 until Apr 11
You will save 10x that much in the first month of checking it out.
I dunno what smokes you were buying Reed. :p You can get 2 King Size 20 packs of Viceroy's in Toronto for $10.25.
Anyways, I did buy this in the summer when I very first got my BlackBerry, and I kind of wish I hadn't. Wait and hear me out.
I had some serious sync issues with their site (This could have been the device changes / OS swaps I had done at the time) but it kept forgetting how many smokes I'd had that day, so I'd be thinking around 9pm 'Hey, only three smokes since I left work? Damn, I'm doing good' when it was really like 4 or 5.
It might work better now, this was before 5.0 was official too, so I imagine they've updated it since, and I would definitely give it another shot. Reed is right, $10 isn't really that much in the long run of how much you'll save. Plus, how many of you justified buying BerryWeather? ;) Same price.
Before I buy this app. I really like to get some sort of hands on review.
Something about the app it self not the method. Some pros and cons would be nice
LOL, That shows how out of touch I am with the cost of tobacco these days. The only time I ever see a price is on a machine in the pub.... way over $10.
The other point that should be made: statistically, quitting smoking will add about 15 years to your life expectency, those are more likely to be healthy and productive years. ;)
Plus, think of all the money you could spend on accessories and applications for your BlackBerry when you're not buying packs of cigarettes. :p
EDIT: I'm an *****. I bought QUIT Smoking, not No Smoking. @_@ Ignore all I said about this application.
BLAH!
I've been throwing away my money on cigarettes for the last 21 years and for the last month I haven't had a smoke. Why? Because I love my kids, wife and got pissed off when it killed me to walk up stairs so I just stopped!
As a matter of fact I haven't had a single cup of coffee, smoke or beer since the day I stopped smoking. Do it, grow some balls and screw paying for an app or nicotine supplements.
You know what's easier than quitting? Never starting :) Heh, I'm just an 18 year old kid who plays football and sports, I can't afford to smoke.. However, my mom and numerous people in my family smoke and I wish they didn't. But I would rather run them through no smoking bootcamp than have them rely on an application.
Nothing against the developer of course :) Everyone has their own opinions and methods for doing things!
