- Given it can be done from a BES and there are some host based applications/services that can do it, how about a stand alone application that offers remote control of a device via emailed or SMS'd requests. The idea is that the app sits in background and is pre configured by the user with a password.
The user can then send emails or txts with a syntax that will control certain functions. E.g.
"passwd LOCK"
sent as a txt or email to the device would lock the device and send a confirmation reply email/txt to the email_address/tel_number that sent the request
Other commands could be to WIPE the device, or LOCATE it (switching on the GPS and sending co-ordinates next time it had a position lock). Or maybe send a POPUP message and sound (even if the device is locked)11-07-08 10:08 AMLike 0 - Given it can be done from a BES and there are some host based applications/services that can do it, how about a stand alone application that offers remote control of a device via emailed or SMS'd requests.
