After the fury of getting http://forums.crackberry.com/f134/ne...y-wars-366667/ out the door, we took some time to finish up an app we had been working on a while ago, but got forgotten while we were selling drugs (in the game of course!).

Stop Turning! - Stop your screen from rotating/tilting! - Personal Productivity BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Software Store

One of the most annoying thing about the snappy screen rotation in the Storm and Storm2 when you are trying to read something! Many times you can be stuck in bed reading an email, and have to perfectly balance the phone to avoid having it switch back and forth.

Stop Turning! is an extremely efficient and lightweight orientation locking app which lets you select which orientations you wanted to allow on an app by app basis.

With Stop Turning, all you need to do is open the BlackBerry menu and select Stop Turning! This will store your current orientation and lock it in that orientation, even if you close the app (settings are reset on device restart due to a limitation in the API).

When you are done reading, you can open the menu again and select Allow Turning to return to normal operation.

This app installs as a service, and does not need an icon. There is no need to disable it since you select whether to lock a particular app or not.

NOTE: Settings are not able to be saved between battery pulls due to a limitation in the API.

*Any 3rd party app that has a custom BlackBerry menu (such as Facebook and some others) will NOT work with this app. This is because these apps completely overwrite the system BlackBerry menu (against RIM coding guidelines), and make it impossible for other apps to interact with them.

Check it out in the Crackberry store on sale now for only $1.49, well below the price of the others! Stop Turning! - Stop your screen from rotating/tilting! - Personal Productivity BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Software Store

Couldn't your application save settings to a configuration file that is loaded when the device restarts?

Everything resetting with the device is always a deal-breaker for any app.

Stop tilt holds its settings through a battery pull.
