Hopefully there is. I friggin hate the shutter sound
If you're CDMA, no. It's only working on GSM devices.
What is only working on GSM devices?

Is there any reason to mute the camera that isn't illegal or immoral?

I know these are all nearly illegal and possibly immoral but I do it anyway. (Not with my CDMA Blackberry, of course)
- Taking a snap of a hummingbird at the feeder after you've waited quietly for several minutes.
- Getting a shot or two of your cat sleeping in the bathroom sink.
- Trying to take a pic or three at an event where you don't want to be a distraction.
- Being non-intrusive in a setting where you aren't the center of attention.
I was taking pictures of people speaking @ an event a few weeks ago & the sound (with a silent audience) got pretty annoying.
I'm surprised so many people think there couldn't possibly be a legitimate reason.
I aint payin for a program to shut it up and frankly i'm sick & tired of the whole concept of installing 3rd party crap just to get (what should be) basic functions.
Ya its pretty had how every time someone makes a thread about shutting the camera up they get jumped with posts saying "quite trying to do this and that" and blah blah. There are tones of legit reasons to silence the shutter. Most of which for me is simply being able to take a picture without distracting other people especially in public.
The reason people jump to the illicit angle is the size of the phone. If I wanted some serious pictures I whip out my Nikon D50, not my bb. Just can't afford the D90 yet. The quality of cell phone camera phones is frankly laughable compared to a majority of cameras available, not just DSLR.
I am not saying that having a camera on a phone is stupid, it does save having to carry two devices, just if you need to quiet the shutter to get "good" pictures, there is enough planning to use a "good" camera to take aformentioned pictues with.

And if I wanted to take "serious" pictures I'd whip out of D90 but I dont carry my D90 everywhere I go. By BB on the other hand...
I (nor do I think anyone else) is under the mind set that quieting the shutter will give you "better" pictures. Its about not being an annoyance when I do decide to use my camera in public places.
And for the record the D90s shutter is louder than the camera sound on a BB and THAT cant be silenced :)
