Most Important Apps?
I've been away from blackberry for a while (had the original pearl), and now that the technology has progressed I feel that I need some help in optimizing my berry (the 9700, when I can finally get my greedy hands on it).
What apps do you consider most important, and could you provide a brief description of both what they do and how you use them? Also, I've been unable to find any decent reviews of Google's mobile services and how they function on Blackberrys. As a student, I am especially interested in Google Calendar and Google Tasks functionality on my berry: can anyone speak to the quality of these?
Thanks guys

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
It doesn't cost anything other than time to download and give them a try.

Except that I don't yet have the phone :)

I use Google calendar so Google Sync is great for me so I have the information on my Tour and also MS Outlook.
I also like the Google mobile app. Love the way it works with my GPS to give local search results first.

Drivesafe.ly reads my texts and emails aloud while I am driving so I am not tempted to take my eyes off the road.

BerryBuzz extends your default Blackberry alert system. BerryBuzz allows you to customize the LED color and create repeating audible reminders for many alert types.
It will repeat alerts until acknowledged so you will never miss an alert again.

List is on my website. BerryBuzz is one of the few apps I would buy easily.

I use Vlingo, ScoreMobile, and Accuweathers weather app. Accuweathers is leaps and bounds above berry weather and every other weather app I've used. 2 clicks to live radar. icon changes for your location for current conditions.

Color ID is our best selling application. It's a great little program that allows you to customize your LED colors depending on who is trying to contact you. You can download a free version here:

Thanks a lot guys - definitely looking into Viigo, Berryweather, Poynt and BerryBuzz. I hope Google sync works with my Tasks list, as that would solve a lot of problems for me.
