    I running a 9700.

I was wondering something. Obviously the more apps you have loaded on your BB the less free available memory/space you have.

Does less available memory equate to slower BB performance?
If so, does that mean I'd get the best performance with no apps loaded?

    Thanks

Some will say yes but in my experience (52 apps, one theme) my performance
is the same regardless of the number of apps I have / had.

But how many are actually running at the same time?
I guess the issue really is how many apps can a ? run without getting slow.

The more apps running in the background will slow the bb down. If you're not using it close it. My phone runs fine with 24 apps installed. Not all running at the same time.

Aside from the 5 that start by default I have 6 additional ones that are started
when the phone does and are always resident. Add to that I normally am
working in several other apps at the same time.

Here is where it get a bit confusing for some. Resident and Running are not the
    same thing.

The browser is always resident but unless called on is not running. If the app
is not actively doing something even if it is resident it's effect is negligible.

That's some nice info, the distinction of resident and running.
But does it apply to BBM? I guess, appart from the groups, it doesn't really matter...
