So I downloaded the free mlb.com team short cut and when i click to run it the browser opens open and says "The protocol specified is not supported by the hand held. Please try a different URL"

This worked fine last season on my 8320 but now i have a 9700 and it wont come up.

any easy way to fix this?

That happened to me last season when I upgraded to 5.0. Now suddenly this season it works again.
