I just bought it. $19.95 is a lot cheaper than an iPod Nano, which was my backup plan.

And that is a perfect rationale. And I think also the point some of us have been making.

We already own devices that play music and video, and for as good a product Miutunes is there is nothing about it that would compel me to use my BB for multimedia in preference to my Sansa, and therefore no matter what it cost, for me, it would be a foolish purchase.

I would gladly pay the full price if it at least had the same features as the bb media player. I do realize the problem lies with RIM for not disclosing full API docs (and for that bit of evilness I will likely not do any further future business with them) and not with miutunes devs, but still no AVRC support is a deal killer for me.

Also agree with AJ, if 40 is nothing to you Patrick, I think the right thing to do would be to give up your free license to someone else...
What would make that the "right" thing to do? Just curious on your perspective of why the "haves" should give up what they earned. Personally, I'm a capitalist, not a socialist myself or communist myself, although what Churchill said about democracy is soooo true. =)

Miu will still get my 20 bucks, but 40 is def a lot to charge when it seems they didn't even take a lot of their own surveu questions into consideration (ie the silly years area that the majority of people won't use).
What evidence to you put forth that "the majority" won't use it? Did you conduct a poll? Oh wait, you are assuming everyone won't use it because you won't use it? I just love it when people state things as facts which are unsupported by any evidence. Didn't the developers conduct a poll? Do you think they may have based their decision on "the majority", or do you really believe they just left it in, even though not a soul wanted it?

Also feel that I gave a few suggestions that realy shouls have been addresses, like showing the time while using the app, having a quick way to go to "now playing", etc
Do you mean having it display time of day (like a clock)? There is a way to go to "now playing"... did you ever read about the shortcut keys? As a beta tester, surely you must have reviewed and tried those?

All that said, great app, just a flawed awarding process at the end!! :-)
What exactly was flawed in your opinion? Do you feel the developers did not do what they said they would do? I'm curious how you arrived at this evaluation of their selection process. BTW, what was their selection process exactly? You must be privy to something the rest of us are not. Do you get my point at all?

Bla1ze and Patrick, congrats, obviously they took the top 10 feedback/bug submitters, so obviously you earned your free copy.
Hey, thanks. I tried hard to make good suggestions based on my user experience, but I'm sure it wouldn't be the product it is without everyone's great suggestions. Simprit ran a really professional beta, and I feel lucky to be among the 10 winners. As they said, there were more than 10 they could have given a license too, and it was a hard choice for them.

If there was an eq, video player, ringtone setup, way to mute with one button, shuffle that was a bit more random, I'd go mow a lawn for the $.
Just push the MUTE button on your blackberry. Works like a charm.

Now where the heck is my viigo beta?
    Yeah, where is that!!!!

You know, if you don't have $40 because you are a student, make minimum wage, don't have a job, or are on SSI, I can understand you thinking $40 is a lot of money. As Dave Ramsey says, maybe you have a "career problem", not a money problem.

But, for the average person with a Blackberry who is educated and has a great job, $40 is like nothing. I mean you can spend $40 taking a wife and kids to McDonalds!

MiuTunes does everything you could imagine and you don't have to go buy an iPod to carry around.

I'm really excited to see what they develop next! These guys are pros and will go far.

    Patrick

P.S. @lustful gangsta - Maybe that whole "gangsta" thing isn't working out for you. =)
This is such failed logic?! The issue is not that $40 is a lot of money, but more so that the Program is not worth $40. What would make it worth that?

    add...

    Video Playback
    Ringtone Manager
    Picture Manager
    Bluetooth Support

I understand that some RIM policies prevent this, but the fact of the matter is that without those features the software is not worth that amount. Whether you can afford it or not.

I posted a couple of comments on the Beta Forum (Not nearly enough to warrant a free license) but I don't think the software is worth $20.

The software is nothing new, and it is a ripoff of Itunes coverflow. As far as being a mediaplayer, the oem player does a better job because it is the cornerstone for media on a blackberry. Everything is all wrapped up in one package (I am not saying that it can compete with Ipod Touch coverflow). But it gets the job done! By buying Miutunes, I cannot get rid of the oem mediaplayer. So for that fact, you are paying $40 for coverflow.

I can afford a $40 program, but I didn't get to that point by wasting my money on programs like Miutunes.
