any one has any idea on what "d AccACC- orientationListener registered" in the event log would refer to?
or for that matter is there a glossary of termology for all the items that show up in the event log?

I would assume it's something to do with the accelerometer determining which orientation the Storm is in.

An application registers an orientation listener when it wants to be notified when the orientation of the phone changes.

So I set my storm to auto reboot at 0515 and I didn't touch it until 0730. All I did was read e-mail and then put it back down for a few more hours. I checked the logs and the memory stayed ~30mb until I started reading e-mail and it immediately dropped 4mb and then didn't change until I checked it a few more hours later.

So does this seem like a memory leak in the OS? The only software that is running is meterberry and stormslider but, I suspect that neither of them are doing it since it sat for 2 hours (2 different time) with no issues but when I start reading e-mail it drops.

    Opinions? (running 4.7.0.141)

Your memory fluctuates up and down all the time as the OS moves things in and out of application memory. This happens whether your phone is idle or not. 4MB is nothing to worry about. This is not a memory leak.

While I agree with you, this is just what's happened so far. If it will operate like it does every other day, it will be upwards of 15mb in the next few hours and from my starting size of 30mb, it will be down to 15mb. I'm not sure if it will drop lower than that because I will usually pull the battery. (before meterberry, now I hit the reset button)

Anyway, at least I can watch it better now with the meterberry.

Not sure what is causing my leak, but since installing this update, I'm losing up to 25 mb. How can I revert to older versions?

The memory cleaner has cost me 5mb the two times I have tried it. I do like the app though....The memory leaks stink on almost all storms, but I like being able to see the battery log. Worth the $3 for that alone IMHO, but dont buy expecting huge memory recovery though.

Is anyone having a problem with meterberry. Everytime my phone reboots my customizable icon on my home screen turns i to an application folder. I can fix it by moving the icon to a different spot and then putting it back but that is annoying. I have contacted the creator twice and still no response. Help me

I responded to your e-mail dated Wed, May 6, 2009 11:24 PM EST. I don't have any record of you contacting us previously.

    Sorry for any inconvenience.

Running it only twice probably doesn't give you enough data to draw a conclusion. There's no harm in experimenting with it more. You're not going to lose 5MB every time you run it. I would try running it throughout the day, after you close down apps, before you open apps, after your phone comes out of idle, when your memory is low, etc. This will help you determine if there is any situation with your specific phone where initiating the garbage collector on-demand will help.

If it never helps, that just means your phone is running as efficiently as possible, which is a good thing. For many people this is not the case, like the person who mentioned several pages back that he recovered 14MB with the "Recover Memory" button.

How do you get the MeterBerry Icon to show on my homescreen (at the top)?

Does this require a custom theme?

    Still using Precision Zen.

I'm not familiar with the Precision Zen theme, but MeterBerry's icon is just like any other application's icon. If by "at the top" you mean where other notifications show up, like new e-mails or SMS's, you can't.

Yep, you'd need a new theme. If you look for the ones set up for WeatherBug or other weather apps, you can just put MeterBerry in the slot intended for weather.

Precision Zen is the theme that comes pre-loaded on the phone from the factory. I just saw a screenshot yesterday of someone who had the MeterBerry Icon in the top tray of their homescreen and it looked like they were running the same theme.

Thats what I thought. I guess I will just leave it how it is then. Thanks you both for the help.

Fantastic App. by the way Cashew

j84ray, some of the themes mimic the look of Precision Zen and simply add a place for an icon up top. If you dig around the theme forum you should be able to find one that is aaaalmost the same as what you have.

Link por favor? I can't remember the name but I know I've seen it before. I might need it now that I see the double icons up top.

I spent weeks researching themes before finally taking the plunge on Storm Today Plus - which was supposed to be awesome.

Switched back after 2 days because of lag, mem leak, etc.

Maybe I'll just wait until things on the phone are a little bit more stable to try themes again.

I'm sure some other themes might be better but it's not too big a deal just to for the icon.

    Thanks again for your help.

Has anyone else noticed that at the exact time every day you drop memory significantly? Yesterday at 12:59pm I lost -8.2 and today at 12:59pm I lost -4.7. Odd. Anybody know why this might be happening or experiencing it themselves?
